I believe that true engagement on the Hive blockchain implies few ingredients when it comes to interacting with the content from our feeds or that we explore around: comment, upvote and repeat. The interactions between us should be meaningful in order to create relations and that doesn't just happen through upvotes (even if this is a great appreciation gesture), but also in leaving a comment or reply in case we find the content intriguing, information, something we resonate with or just something useful. And sometimes I like to achieve this routine and it leaves me with a warm and positive feeling that I simply also care about it and put the little effort it requires to do so.

Nowadays I am using the HivePulse app to view my account operations and as I got a little bit of time on my hand I did a round of 7 interactions in the form of comment & upvote. It is not bad for finding good content that I like and engage with it. And probably I could do this more often by setting a routing out of it, but sometimes the lack of time is denying me to engage in this form. I think that anything helps, even if we do just one action or the other. This type of interactions is what helps the Hive blockchain to stay alive and incentivize people to stay around here or come back after some time. Making others feel good in this ecosystem is of upmost important as when that's achieved it might be a user for life (hope Hive will recover from where it is now and prove itself in time.

Besides these engagement, one other thing that I find very important is to be consistent. We don't need to spend hours every single day in order to make a difference (we probably don't even have enough time anyhow), but being present from time to time and interacting genuinely with others can build strong connections organically. I observed that some of the people that constantly support and communicate with others are also the ones that create the most welcoming atmosphere around them. I do this for others and I feel that I get back same warm and genuine interactions and appreciation. Probably what I like the most about Hive are the people behind the screens with which I engage and the communities that are formed through these small but repeated interactions and common hobbies or interests.
There are moments when a simple comment can brighten someone's day or motivate them to continue creating content. It happened to me and it can happen to others as well. Sometimes creators go through periods when inspiration is low or when engagement drops during bearish markets and receiving thoughtful feedback can make a big difference. This is why I believe that every meaningful interaction contributes to the health of the ecosystem and helps maintain the human touch of Hive and keep it alive and active. And sometimes we find treasures of information or things of interest that can bring us advantage before others.
I don't see the true engagement on Hive as something complicated, but rather as something that requires a bit of effort and engagement from all of us. Commenting, upvoting and making genuine interactions are simple actions that can strengthen the entire blockchain over time and us as communities. If more users would adopt this mindset, I think Hive could become not only a stronger platform, but also a more connected and supportive environment for everyone involved. And I feel that this creates great opportunities in the form of building projects while already having communities and people supporting us. And we should make the most of this!
I still use Hivestats for the bulk of things I actually do, I think I prefer it, especially if I want to check the analytics of my account
Yeah, for a long time I used Hivestats as well but I always felt that it was done a bit in a hurry. Now with HivePulse I am trying to achieve more stats and I plan to add graphs in the future as well, so stay tuned. π
For it to be social media I suppose we should be social π
I like your HivePulse app that is pretty cool.
Time is the big factor and I am stretched to the max with work and the "homestead". But how much time does it really take to make a quick comment?
Thanks for the appreciation and indeed being social and network is the way to find our place around Hive.
You are right, is free to be kind!
You have mentioned what my challenge really is: time. I have missed early engagement with some quality posts because I see them very late. Time is precious; however, I will devise some means to ensure I improve on my Hive activities.
If only we would have time to do everything we want, eventually all in the same time... π
Engagement is very important indeed!
Hive advertises itself as a web 3 social media platform and for that you need content producers and commenters.
I'll check out your tool to see what it does.
Great initiative!
I have recently created a tool myself too;(the Hive Account Health Dashboard. It also shows interaction (or rather lack of it) of users.
I think we should support and reward people that engage more than we have been doing.
I'm frequenrly upvoting comment myself and I'm also running the @topcomment curation project.
Indeed through engagement we can grow and connect.
I visited your app as well, nice touch and perspective.
Thatβs the way! Have a nice day! ππ»
True in every way, thanks!
This resonates. The engagement loop is real β the more you put into genuine interaction, the more the algorithm (and the community) rewards you. I've noticed that posts with real comment threads tend to get curation from accounts that normally skip shallow content. The challenge is sustainability: it's easy to engage hard for a week, but the accounts that compound are the ones who keep showing up with substance, not just presence.
Thanks for posting this, in the end, it would be a great thing if we all built a better community through quality engagement.
