This post dives into the ARCHMAGE utility tokens used by the Archmage.app project.

While we already released many of these details in our Archmage Whitepaper, we wanted to do a dedicated post to the specifics of the tokens, espcially since we just finalized their art. Full and official details of the ARCHMAGE tokens are also on https://archmage.app

ARCHMAGE Tokens

ARCHMAGE, ARCHMAGEA, and ARCHMAGEB are utility tokens on the Hive-Engine side-chain used to gain access to Archmage services for Splinterlands including the currently-in-Beta Archmage Splinterlands Bot.

Why ARCHMAGE tokens?

When we launched the Archmage Splinterlands Bot, we wanted to do so in a way that felt "Crypto-Native."

We wanted to achieve a few things for our users:

1. We needed to be able to limit the onboarding of new users while we scaled up resouces and tested our code to ensure a great experience for users.
2. We wanted to provide a mechanism to decentralize some of the control and ownership of the project and provide users a way to reclaim funds without relying on the Archmage project leadership to do so.

The simplest way for us to do this was to leverage a fungible token on Hive-Engine.

By releasing access to the Archmage Splinterlands bot through a token, users are freely able to resell their access in the future if they no longer want to use the service or if the value goes up and they'd rather have the funds for other ambitions.

Further, since we control the supply and release of new tokens to the market, we can limit access to Archmage to levels that fit within our ability to service and maintain it properly.

Utility Examples

1. To be used as an access pass to Archmage Services, such as the Archmage Splinterlands Bot
2. To reward early adopters with lifetime discounts, early access, and increased say in future developement for Archmage Projects.

We have many planned services and features we're working to add to the Archmage Project and will announce in the future. Archmage Token Schedule

• January 2022 - ARCHMAGEA available for purchase for Archmage Splinterlands Bot Alpha release - COMPLETED
• March 1st, 2022 - ARCHMAGEBavailable for purchase for Archmage Splinterlands Bot Beta release. ARCHMAGEA no longer available for sale, unsold ARCHMAGEA reserved for future promotions. - Currently Active
• Pending completion of Archmage Splinterlands Bot Beta - (No earlier than April 1st, 2022) - ARCHMAGE available for purchase for Archmage Splinterlands Bot Main Launch.ARCHMAGEB no longer available for sale, unsold ARCHMAGEB reserved for future promotions.

Token Dynamics

ARCHMAGE Tokens are made available for direct purchase when the Archmage Project team believes it can handle the new users.

During the Alpha and Beta phases, Alpha Pass tokens and Beta Pass tokens will be available for a brief public purchase window. After those windows close, the unsold tokens will be reserved by the the Archmage Project team for future promotions.

Standard ARCHMAGE tokens (Archmage Access Passes) will be made available during the main launch in accordance with the available resources the Archmage team has to handle new users.

All ARCHMAGE tokens have a precision of 0 - meaning only whole tokens can be held/traded currently.

What to do with ARCHMAGE Tokens?

• USE - For the Archmage Splinterlands Bot, our service will require 1 Token (either ARCHMAGEA, ARCHMAGEB, or ARCHMAGE) to be held by the Splinterlands account (Hive Wallet) you'd like to use Archmage to bot. We plan to create future services/features as well that these tokens will likely be used to gain access to.
• HOLD - As the supply is limited and as future features and use cases are developed, perhaps the value of the tokens will go up from their original sale price.
• SELL/BUY - ARCHMAGE Tokens are Hive-Engine tokens and as such you can trade, move, or exchange them for SWAP.HIVE on sites like Hive-Engine or Tribaledex. As users decide to sell their tokens you may have the opportunity to buy tokens there as well.

Token Edition Benefits

Token holders may get access to other unannounced benefits as well. In general, the biggest benefits will be weighted to the earliest tokens.

Where to get ARCHMAGE Tokens?

Currently, ARCHMAGE tokens can be purchased directly by reaching out to someone from the Archmage leadership team in our discord, which you can access at https://archmage.app

ARCHAMGEA is no longer publically available, but you are welcome to join our discord to be aware of future promotions where you may be able to earn yourself an Alpha Pass token OR check Hive-engine for users who may have listed their token(s) for sale directly. Originally, ARCHMAGEA was available for $10 USD worth of HIVE, HBD, SPS, DEC, or Splinterlands Cards of an equivalent value.

ARCHAMGEB is currently available for $10 USD worth of HIVE, HBD, SPS, DEC, or Splinterlands Cards of an equivalent value - you can purchase now by joining our discord and letting us know how many you'd like.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The Archmage Splinterlands bot does not require any additional cost to run during the Alpha and Beta phases. You only need an ARCHMAGEA or ARCHMAGEB token to participate. After the Main Launch, running the bot will require a portion of the earnings gained through use of the bot to be paid through Prepaid Fee Credits. Design inspiration

Designing the ARCHMAGE token visuals was more of a challenge than expected. Desiging something that looks good both at a higher resolution but is still recognizable at low resolutions are a unique set of challenges.

Ultimately, when we saw the launch of the @pkm-token from @peakmonsters, it became much clearer how we could achieve that blend of "ancient magic" that the Archmage brand represents with the practical needs of a token graphic. Our style is similar to the PKM token with changes to make it feel more like it fits within our brand.

The decagonal shape gives a feel of a more "ancient" coin that is not perfectly round.

The golden yellow/orange of the Alpha Pass token is inspired by the "Legendary" gem on Splinterlands Cards with the Beta Pass' Purple coming from the "Epic" gems.

The green of the standard Access Pass token felt right because green has become the primary color of the Archmage brand.

The "A" is pulled from the same font we use in our Logo, but it's been thickened to be more readable at the small sizes you'll normally see it on Hive-Engine.
