Cube is one of those movies that you dont forget easily Its idea is simple but its execution keeps you hooked from beginning to end and The story begins with a group of people who suddenly find themselves inside a strange maze made up of cubic rooms and each room could be a deadly trap or just a passage to the next room Without any hints about why they are there they start looking for a way out and the further they go the more tensions and fears increase.
What I liked about the movie is how it relies on psychological tension more than traditional horror There are no monsters or exaggerated bloody scenes but your constant sense of danger and not knowing what happens after each step is what keeps you tense The characters are all different and each one of them has skills and a personality that distinguishes him but with time the dark side of each one of them begins to appear and this is where the real problems begin.
The scenario was smart making you try to understand the secret of the maze and look for any hint to solve the puzzle Some of the dialogues were philosophical and raised questions about life randomness and do we really control our destiny These things added depth to the movie and made it more than just a story about people stuck in a mysterious place.
The cinematography was simple but effective and Almost all the rooms are similar however the director knew how to exploit the angles and lighting to give a sense of distress and anxiety The soundtrack is minimal but it works at the right moments to enhance the terrifying atmosphere.
The ending I wont spoil it but its one of those endings that makes you think and The movie doesnt give you clear answers to everything and this could be a positive or negative thing depending on the person For me this type of mystery is what made me appreciate the movie more.
In general Cube is an exciting psychological experience putting you in a real test of nerves If you like movies that rely on tense atmospheres instead of traditional horror then this movie is worth watching.
