Movie Review|| The Edge Of Seventeen

I watched the edge of seventeen and this line got stuck in my head for weeks, because I had spent my entire teenage years feeling this way. Like I was the only one with real problems.
The edge of seventeen is a coming of edge movie that has no dramatic plotline, the only drama in the movie is the main character, Nadine.
A seventeen year old socially awkward girl, who lost her father at the age of thirteen. Nadine finds it difficult to socialize with her peers, making her somewhat of an outcast,While her brother on the other hand is the life of the party.

Nadine has just one friend in her entire life. She had just one person that she felt comfortable enough to be herself, someone she felt loved her for who she was. But all that takes a dark toll when she finds her best friend and her brother ( whom she is envious of) in bed together.
Nadine's self-centered personality, makes it difficult for her to think of anyone but herself at that moment. She then asks her best friend to choose between her and her brother ( I honestly thought that was messed up and unnecessary).

I don't want to give too many spoilers about the movie so I'm not gonna tell you what choice her best friend made. You have to watch the movie to find out. But the one thing that this movie made me become aware of is that, we judge people by their actions yet we justify our own actions by our intentions. Nadine never saw that what she was doing was hurting the people around her, all she knew was that she was hurting. She felt like she was the only one in the world going through something and that was enough reason for her to act out. No one was as important as her.

We are not the only ones on planet earth living life for the first time. Even that person you feel that has their whole life put together, has no idea what they're doing. So the next time you speak or act, just know that the person you're talking to is going through something too. Everyone is going through something and just because they don't show you, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Be kind to everyone and not just yourself.
