I saw a random clip of a man who planning a proposal with three little girls, for their mother. He wants to get married to their single mum and the girls are so happy, showing that they approve already. The engagement made me emotional especially with how the girls kept helping him.
I wanted to see how that scene came about, I wanted to see more of the single mum who I've seen her movies and loved before, I wanted to know how their story goes after the proposal so I checked out the movie and downloaded to watch it... What I saw surprised me more than I can tell.
It turns out that "Hidden Figures" isn't really about a single mum who won the heart of an amazing man and it's not even a movie about how a single mum have 3 beautiful girls who loves and wants the best for their mum. There was more to the story and it was an unexpected.

"Hidden Figures" is a biography drama released in the year 2016 starring Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monáe, Kevin Costner, Mahershala Ali and Glen Powell. A movie based on the book with the same name "Hidden Figures" and based on a true story that is untold.
It's a story that didn't get told enough because of the circumstances around it but having a book and a movie out about it is a good credit to the achievers involved and I feel so good to be a part of those who knows about such great women that lived and made their lives so worth living.
Briefly, the story is about three black (African-American) women working in NASA as computers (a job description then) when there was a shortage of manpower as the American technology try to get to space for the first time in history. The story tells about the women being great contributors to having John Glenn land an orbit on space using their brains and strength.

Played the role of Katherine G. Johnson, a super brained mathematician who can calculate huge numbers. She is a black woman who works at NASA with her other black friends in a segregated space at the company. She got a promotion to work as a calculator on the inside, where the discussions and works are done to make an orbit land on space. Her grit and speed gives her the opportunity to work in the midst of "only white men" and is acknowledged as one who contributed greatly to the success landing.
And yeah, she is the single mum with 3 beautiful girls who found love again and got married for another 56 years with a black man Colonel.

Played the role of Dorothy Vaughan, the first African-American mathematician woman to get the role of a supervisor at NASA, a role that had been met for a White man until she proved relevant as she learnt ahead of a problem with a new machine. Her story is inspiring because even though she had to face discriminations at the library, she somehow found a way to study from the book she no access to and got ahead to a promotion where she took in other black women.

Played the role of Mary Jackson, the first African-American mathematician who became an engineer after attending a segregated school, and engineering schooling was only met for men back then. I especially love how she handled her own case in court (she couldn't even get the privilege to have a lawyer to plead her case) and I found her confidence in her first day at school as the only female in her class. She graduated and got more relevant as she become an engineer.
The story is an inspiring one, exposes how the blacks fought through racial and gender discrimination to becoming figures who contributed to one major success in America. I would recommend you see the movie too, for a more detailed understanding of how inspiring and eye opening to history, this movie is. 10/10.
