"Not Broken" & "Home Beyond The Sun": Movie Reviews

Like I've shared before, I gave up kdrama and long series and it's been going well as I get to use my time for better things while I make good selection of the kind of short movies I'll spend my free time one when I just want to relax and be entertained. I figured out the kind of movies aside Korean that I love and these are on the list.

I'll just go straight to the point for each of the movie, I decided to review just two today although I saw a few more and there's a list I want to share, the movies are short but filled with lessons and saying too much would be a spoiler for whoever decides to go see them so I'll keep it short and strictly my thought on each of them.

Not Broken (2021)

This movie may have a regular kind of storyline, maybe to me but it came with a lesson that I'll keep in memory for a long while. It's a story about a dyslexic girl who is very artistic but somehow she is more defined by her disability instead of her talent. She grew up with her single mother who I honestly couldn't bring myself to like, she felt too controlling of her little girl's to adulthood until the girl really decided to take action for herself. The story reminds me of the importance of seeing your abilities and strengthening yourself on those rather than focusing on your weaknesses that may never go away. It's a nice short movie and I'll rate it 7.5/10.

Home Beyond The Sun (2004)

The oldest movie I've seen in a long while and surprisingly, the storyline isn't so cringe or outdated but the belief and time of the movie is long gone because I honestly would not believe that there are places in China that still act the way they did in this story. I won't give that out but the story tells about a Chinese orphan girl who meets an American student teacher, they bond so well that the teacher began to find new parents for the orphan girl. The twist at the end was so unexpected and a big relief for me, I really didn't think an old movie would make me feel the way I did with this one. It's a good story but there are extremes that I hope do not exist anymore in that part of the world. I'll rate this one 8.5/10.

So among the two movies, which of them are you more curious about and will you see them?
