An Unlikely Romance With a Twist: "Rules Of The Heart" Review

I decided to see another Nigerian movie, I think I'm slowly becoming a fan again. But I know it won't be for long lol. I downloaded to see this one because of the title and the male lead actor, it's been a while I saw a movie of his although it's because I rarely see Nigerian movies for a while.

So the movie wasn't recommended, it was a random selection from a long list of Nigerian movies that came up when I searched for an interesting one. So it was like a chance I gave, hoping that it can't be so bad that I'll regret totally why I downloaded a movie not recommended.

Rules Of The Heart is an almost 3 hours movie released late last year, starring Clinton Joshua, Chinenye Nnebe and Tissy Nnachi. The title of the movie as expressed in the story isn't as I had expected it to be, it is an interesting view of what the rules of the heart is, but I enjoyed it anyways.

The story opens at a dinner, where a guy looking wealthy, calm and arrogant is having a meal with a girl who thinks only of her beauty and money to take from men. She leaves in anger after getting lashed by true words from the guy who says it with no emotion. The story goes on to show a lady struggling to get a job while being pressured by her roommate for rent on a deadline. Long story cut short, she begins to work as a house keeper in the house of the arrogant but rich guy.

The main part of the story begins when she started working there and is diagnosed to have cancer with few months to live. They fall in love and then, an unexpected twist came in, they go their separate ways. The story ends with lessons to take, especially in the life of the guy, his past.

My favourite part of the story is the strict, uptight and unemotional side of the guy before he fell in love. There were so many jokes that got me laughing, especially how he kept reminding the lady that she will soon die using researches and statistics to back up everything he says. All those scenes were so crazy, his act was really on point.

I won't say much but the movie is a good one to recommend, do check it out and let me know what you think. Well, it's for those who enjoy romantic stories. Although, the romance in the story felt forced, it was still good enough. 7/10.
