Primer is a very strange movie but in a good way From the first scene I knew that the movie was not for easy viewing The story is about a group of engineers working on a side project but they accidentally invent a time travel machine Instead of being a simple science fiction movie the story goes in a very complex direction and the more you delve into it the more difficult it becomes to understand This is not a movie that gives you everything on a golden platter you have to focus on every sentence and every detail in order to be able to follow the events without getting lost.
The acting was ok nothing extraordinary but it suited the very realistic style of the movie The characters speak in a natural way without extra drama or strong emotional scenes This was nice because it made me feel that the story could be real But at the same time sometimes the dialogues were fast and complicated to the point that I felt like I was listening to an engineering lecture instead of watching a movie.
The photography was very simple and sometimes you feel like its an independent movie with a low budget but this added to the sense of realism The colors are dull the angles are narrow and everything is shot in an almost documentarylike style This may make the film less visually appealing but it adds to the mystery that hangs over the story.
What really sets Primer apart is the way it deals with time travel Unlike other films where everything is clear here things are complicated and intertwined and the script doesnt try to explain everything to you The ending was honestly confusing and left me feeling like I had to watch the film a second time or even three times to understand all the details.
Overall Primer is a good film for fans of films that stimulate the mind If you like complex stories based on science rather than Hollywood fantasy this film will be a nice experience but if you want a simple and easy film you might find it a bit tiring.
