Looks Like I Can't Go On...?

It's the beginning of a new month in the year. For some of us, the novelty and thrill of the new year are already beginning to wear off. Some of us have already accomplished things in the past month, and it's looking like the year is already shaping into something beautiful. And then for some of us, we are already beginning to feel strained. There have already been some disappointments; we've not met a set goal or we've already flouted our new year resolutions. For those of us in the latter, here are a few tips for us to raise our chin up and get back on track.🤗

• Reassess The Situation: It is necessary that we view our missed goals and resolutions not as failures, but as a learning experience. We review the things we did or didn’t do that we can now do differently. It’s also important that we avoid situations that will push us into going against the goals we set.

• Focus on Progress: Instead on fixating on the end result and how far we are from our goals, it’s better to focus on the progress we are making. Celebrating the small victories and little achievements will help maintain our drive to keep going.

• Finding Support/ Getting Rid of Negative Energy: Surrounding ourselves with positive people who support and encourage us is a good catalyst to achieving our goals. Joining a support group or better still finding a mentor, can guide us. In the same vein, it is pertinent to get rid of negative energy: people that make us feel less of ourselves, or people that will ‘oppress’ us emotionally. Many of us are surrounded by people like that and after each conversation, we can’t stop feeling worthless. Maybe it’s time to let go of such people.

• Taking Care of Yourself: If our physical and mental condition is not in stellar condition, the drive to pursue our goals will be absent. Working out, getting enough sleep, eating healthy and practicing stress-relieving techniques helps to keep our minds clear and focused.

• Be Persistent: Pushing forward even when it seems too much or too difficult, keeping in mind that success is always the reward of persistence and hard work, is necessary if we want to achieve our goals. Anytime I feel like stopping, I take time to fantasize, picturing my dreams and the things I really want and when I’m done, I smile and I sudden feel invigorated and get back to work.

And finally,

• Reward Yourself: Or as I usually call it, giving yourself a ‘Me Treat.’ Treat yourself to something you enjoy, gift yourself with something special (maybe every month), take a break to recharge and build your focus, and it will be the biggest drive to achieving those goals.

Let’s remember that we’re in this together. No one has reached the ultimate goal yet. We are striving to be better people to and for ourselves. So let’s apply all of these, and then see how wonderful it will work out for us all. Happy New Month everyone and I hope this month is full of wins for us.

Thanks for reading.❤️
