The dream of every Nigerian youth is to serve their nation after graduating from high institution, it is expected and compulsory for every graduate to serve their nation for 1 year unless you are above 30 years then you can request for exemption letter.
I recall sharing my experience while schooling with a baby here in this blog. Though the journey wasn't an easy one but all thanks to God Almighty that I am a graduate today and someday I believe it will pay off big time...lolz
After graduating from school and our names were submitted to the national board as the graduating students then we await for the Clarion call which is known in Nigeria as National youth service corps. in abbreviation is mostly known as N.Y.S.C, I was so excited when my names was out I felt so relieved from excessive lectures, test and exams i must confess it was a tough school year for me with a baby.
I had to go to a cafe to register by filling in the necessary credentials
And to create an NYSC account in my dashboard as a prospective corp member, it was stressful i finished mine in two days...shortly after few days my names were among people going for camp. as a married woman we are expected to serve where our husband reside and as a prospective corp member you are expected to stay at the camp for 3 weeks, every month we receive a payment from the government as a corper.
Every corp member is assign to a place of primary assignment which is known as P.P.A...life at the camp wasn't an easy one hubby couldn't let me stay at the camp considering the fact i'm a nursing mom. And is compulsory to report to camp or face the law afterwards. the registration itself was tedious for me I had to go carrying my baby around to different officials for documentation, and to collect my uniform, I.D card and many other things to be done, my baby was making the process of documentation even tiring for me...she had to play around or go to different directions she's so friendly that likely people want to play with her but it was getting late so i needed to finish up in order to hit the traffic. The place for camping was really far from where we live, we stay in island and the camp is in mainland not only that I haven't had a proper meal because we left early in the morning spent four hours in the road oh thanks to traffic! so I just needed a catering joint to eat and rest for a bit, fortunately i founded one, i had an awesome meal to my satisfaction then i headed back to the camp to finish up the remaining.
I hurriedly finished up after collecting my exeat letter showed it to the officials and security for my permissions to leave the camp after that so i booked a ride and we got held by terrible traffic for about 4 to 5 hours before getting home it was around 11:00 p.m. I was so tired and exhausted I had to eat, feed and bath my baby put her to sleep... i freshen up then straight to bed I just needed all the sleep and rest I could get.
Thanks for your time here in my blog!
