The past few days have been physically and mentally tiring as we went back and forth to different locations in San Pablo looking for a place wherein Dyn can complete the list that her developmental pediatrician gave. As a refresher, she needs to have Occupational therapy, speech therapy, and the early intervention program, and enroll in a daycare center.
We are nearing the end of the school year, the daycare center is not feasible anymore. The other three should be prioritized in the meantime as we need to ensure Dyn is ready before she enters the school.
Now, as we checked, called, and visited places within San Pablo, we felt that there was a shortage of people who were in this field. Until I got a message from someone in Facebook groups Autism PH and advised me to try to check with Arc Angel Intervention in San Pablo, this is just a block away from Beyond Horizon the first center that we had checked. The said center is also included in the list given by our pediatrician, but the problem that we had is they do not have any social media presence.
We arrived around nine in the morning, and the teacher who was managing the facility greeted us. We inquired if they have OT, ST, and EIP available and mentioned that they don't have the OT and ST is for home service only. EIP, on the other hand, is something that they can offer this time, she advised us to check first with the other centers and make sure that we go to the licensed ones as people who are scamming on the field are rampant.
We have seen the news about this, and we can agree that due to the need by parents and by greed some people resort to doing such.
Our discussion was cut short as she need to attend her class and informed us to take a pic of their poster and call them instead outside school hours. We played catch for two days as my work hours and their work hours were different until I got a call last night before I logged in at work.
I got the program which is what we need right now for Dyn.
INTERVENTION PROGRAM OFFERS:
Attending Skills ( Developing Sitting Skills and attention span )
Social Skills
Motor Skills
Fine Motor Skills
Speech Problem
Behavior Problems (attention, impulse control, sitting behavior. Compliance to non-preferred tasks, frustration tolerance, persistence in a task), gross/fine motor activities (imitation, related to activities of daily living), and age-appropriate self-help skills.
Social interaction (approach peer, call names of peer, pay attention/adjust to peers behaviors and interest , sportsmanship, turn taking in play and conversation), problem solving (awareness of personal safety, accept consequences of own actions)
Also in our call, they confirmed that they have 1 on 1 sessions and group sessions every Thursday with other kids. When we heard that we were already sold off with the program and idea. However, we still need to wait until the 1st of July as the teacher and kids will have a week of vacation due to the incoming holiday and school break. We were told that we could have Dyn enter the class by the last week of June (24th) but to save some money as we will still be paying for a whole month; they said to start in July instead.
We are positive that there will be improvements ( may be small or big) on Dyn as she embarks on a new journey next month but still, our search for OT and ST will continue to make sure that she will catch up with the delayed milestones that she has with her age.
Godbless kay Dyn at sa family nyo Oli, hoping and praying na maging maayos lahat
Salamat Juls! Marami din dyan sa Calamba kasoo ang layo na talo sa travel time.
I wish you all the best in finding the appropriate program for her and when you do, I hope that it helps her in catching up with her learnings. !LUV
