Raising Responsible Children

My children means so much to me, based on the fact that it took me reasonable years before I got pregnant, and when God finally bless me, he gave me three amazing boys, aged 15, 13, and 11.Watching them grow has been my greatest joy, because they did not come easily, I cherish them deeply. Just as it took time for me to have them, it has also taken me time, efforts and patience, a lot of it to raise them.

They know how to cook, clean, and wash, because that is how I raised them. I did not have house help while raising them, so I made sure they learn to be responsible and independent from early age. But the only challenge was that they often needed to be reminded before doing what was expected of them.

Whenever my husband is around, he takes care of many responsibilities in the house. He makes sure that the generator is on at night because of power failure so that there will be power at night, he makes sure the house is running smoothly, and checks that the doors are properly locked before bedtime.

My husband traveled. Before leaving, he called the children and told them that they should not allow me their mother to complain or shout. He asked them to do everything that is expected of them without being told and promised that he would always call to check on them. Since my husband traveled, my children have really surprised me. They clean, cook, wash and even do some of the things their father usually do, they do all without me asking or complaining.

When I asked them why they changed, they said they wanted to keep me happy and free from stress because their dad had asked them to take care of me. These response touched my heart deeply and made me happy and proud of them, I now realised how responsible and caring my children are now. I am grateful for the children they are becoming and for the love they show me through their actions.
