My Best & Worse Parenthood Moments of 2022 πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘¦β€πŸ‘¦ || Challenge of the Week

Wow, I think I should start with my best moment before progressing to the worst. Motherhood is a whole lot of school that no mum graduates till even our old age. It's the end of the year and I have sat down to a deeper reflection on how this year has been with me and my children. All thanks to the @motherhood community through the help of @victoriabsb for always giving us interesting prompts to write ✍️ and learn more from other parents about our parenthood journey.

It's been a year with mixed feelings over my 3 boys but in everything, I give thanks to God for always coming through for me. For my last baby who is a year and 7 months old, it's been a lovely journey with him.

His arrival at my home brought smiles to our faces. He arrived when everywhere was dry, not even money to pay for his birthing but within some days after his birth, we saw light again. I decided to breastfeed him for 2 years and I am still on track. Many people don't want to hear this part, but trust me it's one of the best choices I made earlier this year and it's nice with both of us all along. Hospital trips with him are only during immunization, his health has been so sound and I am happy about it. Another interesting part about this is his attention to things around him. He baffles me with so many things he does. He observes everyone at home and always tries to do whatever he sees anyone doing. Times when he sees some food particles on the floor, he would bring a broom and parker to tidy the environs. He tries to pull out his clothes by himself and signals me most times whenever he wants to wee or poo, a baby who is still in a diaper..lol. I am just so happy about his rapid development both mentally and socially, it's been an amazing year with him.

My second son is another being that never ceases to amaze me with his intelligence and creativity. The way he reasons at this age of 5 leaves me so startled most times.

His teachers on the other hand have been giving me lots of positive feedback about him this year. He once won an award in August this year for the most outstanding performance in his class. In my home, he has been demonstrating lots of positive energy over whatever he lays his hands on. The one procrastination I made about him was my inability to get him a home lesson teacher. I felt there is not much need since he is doing wonderfully already but I think I was wrong. I should do the needful come 2023 for a more excellent job from him.

Now unto my first son...hmmm
This year has been a bit challenging with his health.

On the 24th of January 2022, I had a terrible experience with his health. It started at school and the school was kind enough to rush him to a nearby hospital while I rushed to meet them there. My son couldn't breathe on his own so well but was supported by oxygen. He lost consciousness for hours...I died and was resurrected! lolz. The nurses were giving me hope but I was going down slowly. To cut the story short, he was well again after some days in the hospital. The doctor sent us to conduct some tests for him outside their hospital.

Reflecting on this situation now led me to shed tears while writing this post...I don't know how best to express myself on what my son went through during that period. We did another test that consumed lots of money...the type that I couldn't even the diagnosing room. However, I never seized to pray for him daily. My knees were always on the ground crying to my God to save my son from such affliction. Glad he heard me and made him whole again.

Aside from the heavy health issue he had by January this year, he has been having other Little health challenges but in everything, God always comes through for me

One of our hospital visits for a check-up

It's been a year of joy some months and sadness some other months with my kids but I am grateful for the good health we have today. The more lesson I learned was to always keep their health in check, academics, and social well-being. I hope to be a better parent through these experiences come the next year, 2023.

For a mother, the most important thing is her child. She does her best to keep them safe.
I can understand the situation when your child becomes unconscious.
It's good that everyone is well now. God bless all of you and lead a happy lifeπŸ€—.

My oh my!

I'm speechless, Nkem. All I know about parenting is that is that there is always more than what meets the eyes.

I have seen my own mother cry before, concerning the health of my brother in 2022, and the pain I felt was inexplicable; how much more the way she felt.

On the bright side, your first boy is doing much better now. And the others are doing exceptionally.

You're an amazing mother, Nkem. Keep at it and your joy will forever be bountiful over them.

Motherhood is a powerful task, and it takes the grace of God to go through it. Am so touched by all you've been through and I pray God would continue to guard and protect all our children. May he give us the strength to care and provide for our kids πŸ₯°.
