Giovanna's First Year: A Journey of Love, Laughter, and Tears

You know when some mothers begin to pamper their children, sometimes a lot of people tend to feel they are doing too much but No! they are not. They are only expressing how excited they have been all through the journey.

My goddaughter Giovanna, turned one a few days ago and I’ve been over the roof. I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that it’s been a year since she came into our lives. How did she move from the tiny baby I met at the hospital to the big girl she is now. It beats my imagination.

I’m just her godmother and I can’t phantom how time went by so fast, how much more her mother who did the whole job. So yeah, mothers deserve to boast about their children in whichever way they want and we all have to accept and respect that.

I have been actively involved in Giovanna’s life and I can say for a fact that raising a child is not a walk in the park. It also goes beyond those cute faces you see. It involves, love, perseverance, hardwork and wisdom.

How we get excited whenever she does something new is amazing!

I remember vividly the first day she attempted to stand, it was a full-blown celebration. We couldn’t get over the fact that our little princess legs were strong enough to stand! It was a wonderful feeling. When she started walking? We couldn’t help but scream again and again. Our baby was walking!!!

We held our breaths when she started taking her baby steps as she would fall and stand up again. Our little hearts couldn’t see our little one fall several times just so she could walk. With every step she took Giovanna's legs became stronger and stronger. Stronger legs meant falling and destroying things😂😂

We’ve watched our baby girl grow bigger, taller and smarter and we can’t help but appreciate God’s creation. How do all of these happen on our watch? Such a mystery!
We are still in awe as to how she’s learning all of these things so fast.

Very soon Giovanna will start talking and when she starts, it will be game over for everyone.

Looking back at how life-threatening Giovanna’s pregnancy was, from falling ill a couple of times, to her skin being super sensitive, all we can do is to remain grateful to God because He made all of this possible.

Watching Giovanna grow has been a wholesome experience. We’ve celebrated, we’ve panicked, we’ve prayed, we’ve conducted so many researches, and a lot more.

Watching her do all these things makes me want to have my own baby real soon hehehehe, I guess that’s what these kids do to us😂

While we watch her grow into a beautiful young lady, we are trying our best not to miss out on anything and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for her.

So let’s say this is a late Mother’s Day post. Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mothers, surrogate mothers, godmothers, adoptive mothers, and mother figures, you all are amazing and you all deserve nothing but the best🥰🥰
