Cooking Favorite Meals for Daycare Children While Watching Every Child Grow and Learn at Their Own Pace

Hello everyone!
As a parent, I believe that daycare is the first stepping stone in my child's educational journey. It is a place where children begin to learn, explore, and grow. Daycare is not only about learning the alphabet, numbers, and songs. It is also where children develop independence, build confidence, and learn good behavior through everyday activities.

As parents, we also have an important responsibility in supporting our children's education. One of the ways we do this is by participating in our daycare feeding program.

Every day, different groups of parents are assigned to help. Each group has a schedule for cooking, cleaning and preparing the utensils needed for the feeding program. Today is Tuesday, and it was our group's turn to serve.

Since Tuesday is my rest day from my online work, I volunteered that Tuesday is our schedule . I knew I would have enough time and energy to participate because I was not physically or mentally tired. I even brought firewood from home to use for cooking. Although our daycare has a butane stove, using firewood helps save money because butane needs to be purchased regularly. After cooking and serving the food, I stayed behind to help clean the cooking area and wash the utensils before going home.

For our menu, we cooked bola-bola made with corned beef, eggs, and flour. We all worked together to prepare the ingredients, cook the food, and make sure everything was ready before the children arrived.

When it was finally time to eat, I could see the excitement on the children's faces. They happily enjoyed the food, and most of them finished their meals. I noticed that some children could already eat independently, while others still needed help from their mothers or grandmothers. Some were picky eaters, and a few were simply not in the mood to eat. I understand that this is normal because every child has a different personality and develops at their own pace.

There are days when children are active, cheerful, and full of energy, and there are also days when they feel quiet or less interested. As a parent helping at daycare, I get to witness these moments, and they remind me that every child is unique.

I have learned that we should never compare our children with others. Every child has their own strengths, abilities, and timeline for learning. Daycare is not a competition. It is a place where children are loved, guided, and encouraged to grow into confident and independent individuals.

I am grateful to be part of this feeding program because it allows me to support not only my own child but also the other children in our daycare. Working together with teachers and fellow parents makes this journey more meaningful and reminds me that raising a child truly takes a community.
