Being a teacher is more than just teaching lessons and giving exams. It is about guiding, caring, and sometimes even becoming a second mother to my students. Every day, I try my best to create not just a classroom but a family where my students feel safe, supported, and valued.
After our monthly examination, I wanted to do something special for my class. To celebrate their efforts, I prepared a simple meal: hotdogs, noodles or bihon, and a sweet gulaman dessert. In the photo, you can see me cooking and serving the food with so much joy in my heart. It may not be grand, but for me, it is a small way of telling them that I am proud of their hard work and perseverance.
As I watched my students enjoy the food, laughing and sharing stories with one another, I couldn’t help but smile. In that moment, they reminded me so much of my own children. Their happiness was contagious, and I felt so blessed to witness their simple joys. Cooking for them was not a task but it was an expression of love, just like how a mother prepares food for her children at home.
What makes me happiest is knowing that my students feel cared for. These little celebrations may seem ordinary, but to them, it creates memories to be cherish and they will carry as they grow. For me, it strengthens the relationship we share inside the classroom. I believe that when children feel loved, they also learn better not just in academics but in life.
Teaching has truly given me more than I ever expected. It has taught me patience, compassion, and unconditional love. My students are not just learners to me; they are like my own children. And in every little way I can, whether through lessons or simple meals, I will always strive to show them that they are special.
I can relate so much to this! Being a teacher, specially here in the Philippines is really life changing. Our role is not just being a teacher, we can be any role the day calls us to be aside from our role as a teacher. A nurse or a doctor if a student is sick, a guidance counselor when there are students fighting, a mother who gives them food if some doesn't have a snack or a lunch to eat and so much more. It's tough sometimes but it's also rewarding. Indeed teaching is the noblest job there is. Mabuhay ang mga guro! Happy teacher's day in advance, ma'am!
HAPPY TEACHERS DAY TOO MA"AM.
