I am not a professional musician. When I was a teenager, I took music lessons on the recorder as part of a project run by the city council where I lived. It was during this period that I began to study music theory and learn how to read and sing from sheet music.

Childhood and adolescence are undoubtedly the best times to learn to play an instrument or study a new language, because at that stage of life we have fewer concerns about work and responsibilities. Therefore, it is a great time to develop skills that require patience and dedication.

As a teenager, my dream was to play the guitar and violin, but unfortunately I didn't have that opportunity at the time. However, I learned to play the clarinet, thanks to a cousin (now deceased) who played and, in addition to teaching me, sold me his clarinet. I kept this instrument with great care until last year, even though it was very old and covered in dust.

For this reason, I decided to buy a new clarinet on AliExpress — an international purchase that was still exempt from import taxes for amounts under $50. I bought a clarinet tuned to C, the same key I already used, but with one difference: this new one has 17 keys, while my old instrument had only 13. Unfortunately, many sellers no longer ship to Brazil 😥.

It took me a few months to adapt to this new instrument, mainly because I don't have much time to practice. I used to play a lot at the music school in my town, but over time you realize that music ends up being just a hobby for most people. Only the best — and few — can really make a living from music, whether singing or playing an instrument.

I'm still far from getting a really clean sound out of my clarinet, but every now and then, in my spare time, I like to play a little. Today, I was thinking: why not share one of my hobbies on Hive? The image below shows my clarinet.

I've thought a few times about recording and publishing some songs I like to play, but whenever I listen to the recordings, I realize how far I still am from achieving a cleaner and more pleasant sound with my instrument.

Eu não sou nenhum músico profissional. Na minha adolescência, tive aulas de música com aquelas flautas doces, em um projeto da prefeitura da cidade onde morava. Foi nesse período que comecei a estudar teoria musical e a aprender leitura e solfejo de partituras.

A infância e a adolescência são, sem dúvida, os melhores momentos para aprender a tocar um instrumento ou a estudar um novo idioma, pois nessa fase da vida temos menos preocupações com trabalho e responsabilidades. Por isso, é uma ótima época para desenvolver habilidades que exigem paciência e dedicação.

Quando adolescente, meu sonho era tocar violão e violino, mas infelizmente não tive essa oportunidade na época. No entanto, aprendi a tocar clarinete, graças a um primo (já falecido) que tocava e, além de me ensinar, ainda me vendeu sua clarineta. Guardei esse instrumento com muito carinho até o ano passado, mesmo já estando bem antigo e coberto de poeira.

Por esse motivo, resolvi comprar uma clarineta nova pelo AliExpress — uma compra internacional que ainda era isenta de impostos de importação para valores abaixo de 50 dólares. Adquiri uma clarineta afinada em Dó, a mesma tonalidade que eu já usava, mas com uma diferença: essa nova possui 17 chaves, enquanto meu antigo instrumento tinha apenas 13. Infelizmente, atualmente muitos vendedores nem enviam mais para o Brasil 😥.

Demorei alguns meses para me adaptar a esse novo instrumento, até porque não tenho tanto tempo disponível para praticar. Eu costumava tocar bastante na escola harmônica da minha cidade, mas com o tempo a gente percebe que a música acaba sendo apenas um hobby para a maioria das pessoas. Somente os melhores — e poucos — conseguem realmente viver da música, seja cantando ou tocando um instrumento.

Ainda estou longe de tirar um som realmente limpo com minha clarineta, mas, de vez em quando, nas horas vagas, gosto de tocar um pouco. Hoje, fiquei pensando: por que não compartilhar na Hive um dos meus hobbies? Na imagem abaixo está minha clarineta.

Já pensei algumas vezes em gravar e publicar algumas músicas que gosto de tocar, mas sempre que escuto as gravações, percebo o quanto ainda estou distante de alcançar um som mais limpo e agradável com meu instrumento.
