That looks like a great place, too bad the weather wasn't overly cooperative. At least there weren't any tornadoes! The grub you cooked up looked good, that and some cocktails make for a nice evening.
Swimmer's itch sounds horrible, I've never heard of it before. I think I may pass on that experience, it's a good thing they have decent showers to rinse off after swimming. The lake sure looks pretty though! I'm glad you had a chance to get out even if the humidity was a touch high. Living in the Caribbean that's something I understand all too well!
It actually wasn't too bad here with the humidity, but in the middle of summer it can get kind of thick. We were lucky that there wasn't more damage with the storms that rolled through. You definitely want to avoid swimmer's itch!
The worst heat and humidity I can recall was in Puerto Rico in the middle of August after a hurricane hit. No power for two weeks and nothing but humidity and heat. You would lay in bed and sweat yourself to sleep... I was never more grateful for electricity than when I had a working A/C again!
