Today was Friday the third of January and the first working day of the new year.
We get January the second as a public holiday to recover from the Hogmanay/New Year celebrations.
Yes, that was when Christmas Day first became a public holiday in Scotland, up until then it was always Hogmanay and New Year that we celebrated!
This morning the sun was shining and the sky was blue!
If you read my post yesterday [https://peakd.com/hive-106316/@tengolotodo/just-do-it-and-reap-the-rewards](Just Do It and Reap the Rewards) then you realise I said I would take Mrs T into town to do some charity shopping as she confided in me that she saw a coat and never bought it.
Hence my little Just Do It rant.
Although the sun was shining today, it was fluffing freezing as you can see from this bird bath!
It rarely gets cold enough to be completely white here, we don't get snow as a rule on the coast, go a couple of miles inland and they get some occasionally but rarely do we.
You can tell we are still on Scottish holidays as the schools are closed, this is our local primary school. I still love the architecture on the older buildings we have here.
Now this is the house Mrs T wants, it is on the corner of Lady Helen Street. Her mother is called Helen and Mrs T reckons if we have her mother again to stay she can have her own floor! I ain't complaining to that.
The tree stump though, can you see the demons and faces in there or is just me...
These palms I love, perhaps beacuse they never lose their leaves and give the pretence of warm weather!
You can see the frost on the grass....
You can also see the after effects of New Year celebrations!
A lady well I am presuming they belong to a lady has lost her shoes.
Actually you can see one of them was broken, so yeah rather that take them home or put them in a bin, just like an irresponsible dog walker they leave it littering the grass!
The shoes were on the hill coming down into town. She probably staggered out of The Duchess pub that is on the left hand side and had a rowdy Hogmanay dance/piss up celebration for the New Year.
Town was looking lively which is always a good thing.
Too many shops close due to online shopping and the retail parks.
Although it was cold there was no wind whatsoever as you can see from millpond state of the water.
You can see the Bass rock and there looks like a UFO next to it on the right side of the picture.
There are loads of streets that run perpendicular from the High St to the promenade such as that one.
I was asked if it had rained, but it I think it is the sun melting the frost that caused the sleek wet look to the road surface.
The May Isle in the distance is a great island to visit in the summer, I am thinking it would make for a great Worldmappin post.
This is a new shop place that sells antique and unusual Scottish items.
It is where Mrs T got my Christmas present.
The present being a wonderful book of Scottish verse.
The weather was glorious and the buildings shine in the sun so much more so than the drab grey when it is dull and overcast!
They finally installed barriers to cut out cars careering down the High St when it should be for shoppers.
Apparantly they had changed the layout of the shop!
I had to take that picture, as it applies to some of you who engage with me!
The coat was still there and was duly bought!
You know you get matching his and hers christmas jumpers ... well that was another version in shopping trolleys!
The Christmas decorations were still up...
Being a seaside town we are full of fluffing seagulls, so they will always bomb your pic!
We did do the full 8 charity shop ciruit and for all you ladies ...
Fifty pence that cost, and yes I bought it!
Looook what is over the water..... did you see it?
The charity shops had run out and I was not in the mood to go to the Nickel & Dime shop. It does have some good stuff and is pretty big. Another day perhaps!
For us it was time to get home and get some food cooked!
I hope you had a wonderful Hogmanay or New Year if you celebrated it!
I hope you managed to get out for a few walks this week!
This is also a post to participate in my first #wednesdaywalk initiative from the wonderful @tattoodjay
All images and ramblings are from me, the mad Scotsman TengoLoTodo and pictures were taken with my Google Pixel 9 Pro XL smartphone and lead image designed on canva.
@tengolotodo January 3rd 2024
That tree trump looks scary. It have different facesπ¬.

You are very welcome @tengolotodo! it was well deserved. βοΈ
Happy New Year & Keep up the great work πͺ
Happy new year @tengolotodo! π
Scotland is one of the countries that preserved most of the sites, and I'm surprised your place is not entirely covered with snow! βοΈ
Happy New Year @sydney27 and so good seeing you.
Are you excited to graduate? It can't be long now!
Ah well there is snow in some parts of Scotland. We are right on the coast and rarely get snow. Frost sometimes but snow, it has been a few years since we saw any!
Author? A short poem at least, huh? I'm waiting...π
It looks like everyone is still recovering from all the celebrations, everything is so quiet, empty and fresh too. The stump, if it was a devilish one, is also at rest. I see Kirkcaldy very beautiful through your eyes, really.
And when you find shoes like that lying around the imagination is fired up. You like order, but if someone hooked on thrillers had written this, he would say it was part of a crime scene.
The Authors are various ...
and the reason the book was bought...
This poem ...
yes Edward hehe!
Aha I couldn't show the pictures of the dismembered body further up the hill.. Hive is a family site π€£
Edward, I don't understand anything... some words like... son, brand, sick... π
No, for God's sake, it would make me sick to see a dismembered body. You made the right decision. π€£
some more: house, brother... oh, Lord Randal hahaha

That's a fun fact & my most favorite picture is definitely the seagulls one π
Thanks Mac and wish you a healthy happy and prosperous New Year.
The seagull one was my favourite too.
Nice day for a walk, Super Ed!!!
I don't know if I would want to live in the house that Mrs. T likes because that tree stump in the corner looks a little creepy. I can see the faces on it and they look like scary creatures.
Great that Mrs. T got the coat she wanted.
Happy New Year, querido! May 2025 be a wonderful year for you!
Happy New Year querida and I wish you a healthy happy and prosperous 2025!
Yes the coat was a bargain and we waterproofed it this morning!
Yeah there are two tree stumps and the one I showed was a scary looking thing! No hummingbirds nesting in it I am sure Super Eli!
I want that mug!!! I would have bought it too. It will serve you well for your morning coffee.
And if the slippers are from a modern Cinderella who had to run because it was 12 o'clock and the prince turned into a toad? hahaha. I saw those evil faces on the tree too, but I didn't see anything over the sea.
Thanks for that photo tour my friend, I already realize that your sky is just like mine. Hugs
Hehe the mug is for you!
The evil faces they are there. So it was not just me who saw them!
Over the sea, well I blew this up, and you can sort of see white which is the snow...
Big hugs and Happy Sunday Nancy π€π

We have an American version of the PDSA - Salvation Army thrift stores - not a bad place for a used book, and I'll shirts for working the yard or garden there.
In Hawaii if you were patient and didn't mind searching and searching you could occasionally find a gem of an old Hawaiian shirt.
Yeah the Salvation Army are one of the most popular charity shops over here...
This is our local one
happy new year to all of you there π
Happy New Year Dyserie to everyone in the Phillipines.
And happy belated birthday and I hope you had a wonderful Christmas time.
Aww it's so nice of you to finally get Mrs T her sweater π€

Hehe I can be nice when I want to!

There are some very interesting pictures.
Thank you, it was a fun wee walk.
Happy New Year, Ed!
What a lovely sunny day you've got. Just reading about the weather in UK and the heavy snow, but I guess you still have none.
