Hello, Hivemates!
It’s been a while since I last posted, but today, I’m bringing you to one of the most breathtaking views in San Juan, Abilan, Buenavista, Agusan Del Norte — and trust me, it’s not just the view that took my breath away.
It all started when my friends invited me to explore San Juan. No big plans, just a random adventure. And being me? I said yes without thinking twice.
We walked so far just to see the river — and honestly, I thought we were just going to look at it from a distance. But NO. Apparently, we were crossing it.
The water was raging. Not even being dramatic, it was really flowing fast — like a washing machine on full spin. I was frozen for a while, but my friends? They were already halfway through, laughing and shouting like it was an amusement park ride. I kept saying “Guys wait! Can I back out?” but they cheered me on like I was in the Olympics.
And you know what? I did it. My legs were shaking, I almost slipped, and my shoe nearly became fish food — but I made it to the other side. That moment? Scary and enjoyable at the same time. I even saw my friend crawling through the water like a lizard just to fight the current — I laughed so hard I almost forgot I was scared.
After the “river survival episode,” we found this huge tree — like, storybook-level huge. Its leaves were so green, it felt like nature literally turned up the saturation. We all sat under it, catching our breath, laughing like crazy, and sharing random stories. One of my friends started munching on chips while another sang out loud like it was a concert. That spot became our little world.
But of course, it didn’t stop there.
Some of my friends suddenly climbed a different tree nearby and started tying their hammocks at the top. Yes. At. The. Top.
They swung like they were born in the jungle, music blasting from their speakers, and here I was — on the ground, internally screaming “WHAT IF YOU FALL?!?”
They called me up and handed me an extra hammock. I laughed nervously, acting brave, but inside I was like “Nope. Big nope. Hard pass.” I imagined the branch cracking, me falling, and being carried back down the mountain with a broken hip.
I told them to get down, and they just shouted back, “Relax! We always do this in our mountains!”
Uhm okay Tarzan, not all of us are built like tree monkeys.
So while they lived their high-life up there, I laid down on our humble picnic mat on the ground. Plugged in my earphones, played my favorite sad-but-chill playlist, and let the wind lull me to sleep. Honestly? It was the best nap I’ve had in weeks. Something about nature just hits different.
I woke up to the sound of soft laughter and birds flying overhead, and for a moment, everything felt peaceful. The kind of peace you don’t get often when you’re drowning in school or life problems.
As the sun began to set, everything turned golden. We took some pictures, talked about life, and just stared at the view — like we were trying to soak up every last second of it.
I didn’t just survive that river. I survived a week of stress, pressure, and overthinking — and found a little piece of joy in the middle of the wild.
Sometimes, these spontaneous adventures?
They heal parts of you that no one sees.
