Hello there!
Having completed my earlier travel posts on several interesting countries, such as Japan, Maldives, Indonesia and US, it's probably time to share about my recent Europe trip! If you are keen to find out which countries and cities I visited, you can read the quick summary here.
There is actually a back story behind this trip. My friend and I planned this trip a few years back and it was supposed to take place in Apr 2020, but as most of you would know, Covid 19 pandemic came and we had to cancel the trip due to all the travel restrictions and health advisories. So we planned for this trip in 2025 and it finally materialised!

Vatican City - An Unforgettable Trip To Vatican Museum
Before I start this post, I just want to thank all my readers and the support I received in my earlier post on Vatican City. Vatican City is really a special place and am really thankful and grateful for both the engagement and the recognition in that post. And since I am on this, I thought I should do a shoutout to Worldmappin's current challenge! You can check out the post here. There are some prizes to be won but the most important thing is to have fun!
Aside from historical exhibits and artefacts (which I shared in my previous post), Vatican Museum boasts a spectacular treat of artwork and the amazing part is, most of the paintings were on the ceiling! Before I came here, I didn't know what to expect, and oh my, I was incredibly awed while I walked through the corridors, looking at the paintings at the walls and on the ceiling, and snapping photos at the same time.
Even though I am free thinker and can't really appreciate these religious painting and references, just by looking and admiring it, it was just totally unbelievable. So join me in reliving those memories in this post while I bring you through an amazing journey!
We started off the journey with these paintings on the ceiling - yes, no kidding. So you can see all the visitors looking up most of the time, and taking photos. What struck me was how incredibly detailed these paintings were. The details were so fine as you could tell from the photos.
Here's a more zoomed out version. Lesser details on each individual painting but you could also see how beautiful and grand the ceiling was.
There were also paintings on the walls, not just the ceiling, and I liked how vibrant the colours were. It felt like a 360 degree experience in an art gallery, surrounded by paintings all around.
Other than painted ceilings, the carvings on the walls and doors were done very artistically as well.
Ah I almost forgot to mention - just look at the crowd! In most corridors, we were literally shoulder to shoulder with the next person. But it's definitely not a surprise to me, because this is such an amazing museum and I don't think you can find something like this elsewhere in the world! So definitely, it will be flooded with visitors.
In another section, the ceilings were slightly different, with some carvings and very well painted as well. And I wonder, how do people in the past do this?
Here's a more zoomed out version, where you can see the entire stretch of ceiling through the corridor! And of course, the sides were also lined with numerous drawings, and yes, it's filled with visitors here too!
Another section with an interesting ceiling here as well.
We approached to the end of one section where there was a dome and it's just full of artsy vibes here. Like I mentioned, the 360 degrees experience. Everywhere I turn, there's something beautiful to admire.
We moved to another section where there were massive drawings on the walls. I mean, really massive.
Then we moved into rooms where the paintings extended from the floor to the walls and the ceiling as well. These paintings were probably full of significance for those religious followers and I just thought these paintings were so well done!
And we approached the end for one of the sections in the Vatican Museum! Yes, there's more to come, but I thought it's a good break at this point. At this point, to my surprise, my neck was actually aching because I was looking up all the time, as well as taking photos with my camera facing up as well. But the visual treat was definitely worth the neck ache. Stay tuned for more spectacular artwork in the next post!
And that's all I have today! Have you been to Vatican City? Let me know in the comments below!

Wow, the detail is incredible! 😍 The ceilings at the Vatican Museum are truly a sore neck, but they're also a joy to behold. The photos capture the grandeur and atmosphere so well, it feels like you're walking along, constantly looking up 🎨✨
