Hello there!
Having completed my earlier travel posts on several interesting countries and regions, including Japan, Maldives, Indonesia, US, Europe, New Zealand and the latest one being Australia, it's time to fly over to United Kingdom!
This was a trip I made in 2014, I was there partly for work and partly for leisure as well. At that point in my life, it was one of the further destination that I have travelled all the way from Asia and it was definitely an eye opener to see how United Kingdom, or more specifically London, looked like. One thing that I remembered vividly was how strong GBP was, and everything was so expensive. For example, even though the numerical digits of the prices were small, because 5 or 10 GBP was easily a lot already. Anyway, time to relive those moments as I share the sights and sounds of my experience!
Here are the posts so far:

One of the good points about travelling to a foreign country is to experience different cultures because it's something one cannot experience in their home country, unlike the more routine stuff like food or shopping.
So in this post, I headed to Buckingham Palace to witness the Trooping The Colour Ceremony. They only had it at certain days of the year so it was a good thing that this occurred while I was there. It was definitely a popular activity as you could see many visitors making their way across the gardens to the palace.

Because I didn't arrive extremely early, I didn't get a good viewing point and had to settle to standing behind some of the crowds. Fortunately, even though I wasn't tall enough, I was still able to catch the parade proceedings.

Lots of soldiers(?) and their horses strolled past the long stretch of road and made their way to the castle.

Lots of guards stationed along the path to maintain order and to prevent any intruders as well.

A look at the crowds with Buckingham Palace in the background.

The ceremony continued and here's the marching group.

There were horse carriages!

The ceremony was not boring because the band (military?) was playing music as well.

Finally, the highlight of the parade! Do you recognise who the VIP is?

The final contingents completed the ceremony.. At least for the first part.

That sums up the first part of the Trooping The Colour ceremony. It was tiring having to stand for a long period of time but the experience was definitely worth it. It was very interesting to see such parades and ceremony, and stay tuned for the second part of the Trooping The Colour ceremony!
And that's all I have today! Have you been to London or United Kingdom? Let me know in the comments below!
