United Kingdom - Exploring Bath Abbey And Roman Baths

Hello there!

Having completed my earlier travel posts on several interesting countries and regions, including Japan, Maldives, Indonesia, US, Europe, New Zealand and the latest one being Australia, it's time to fly over to United Kingdom!

This was a trip I made in 2014, I was there partly for work and partly for leisure as well. At that point in my life, it was one of the further destination that I have travelled all the way from Asia and it was definitely an eye opener to see how United Kingdom, or more specifically London, looked like. One thing that I remembered vividly was how strong GBP was, and everything was so expensive. For example, even though the numerical digits of the prices were small, because 5 or 10 GBP was easily a lot already. Anyway, time to relive those moments as I share the sights and sounds of my experience!

Here are the posts so far:

Continuing my trip in Bath, which was a day trip from London, I also visited two key attractions in Bath itself. The first one was Bath Abbey, which was a church with amazing architecture! I mean, just look at the design, the curves, and the entire structure. It's really amazing they built these things many hundreds of years ago, and these days, we don't get such stuff anymore but modern looking buildings.

Next up, we visited the Roman Baths. From what I knew, this place used to have these Roman baths, and hence the name of the city. But now, there are more for visitors and these baths were not really for use anymore. I remembered the guide telling us not to go into the waters because they have been there for a long long time. Not to forget, the Roman Baths are at the heart of the World Heritage site of Bath!

Here's the main area once we entered the compound. Lots of visitors and everyone knew not to go into the waters. Hehe. The waters looked dirty to be honest, and I wonder if there was any maintenance or they left it as it is to preserve its natural state?

Of course, the compound isn't just the water itself. There were many of such displays like this one, educating visitors about the history of this place, and what took place many years ago.

There were even diagrams on how these baths work!

We moved along beneath the ground level, and these were some of the baths, and warm rooms (I guess the equivalent of saunas, steam rooms, and perhaps hot stone floor these days).

Finally, we also chanced upon a pool which visitors from all over the world have decided to throw coins in it. Is this supposed to be some wishing well? Hmm. I didn't do it because I am not sure whether to believe in such things. Would you have thrown a coin?

With that, we ended our day tour in the city of Bath! To be honest, I didn't come with much expectations, and was greatly impressed by the history, the architecture, and the most of all (in my view), the scenery. It's such a good break from the bustling city of London, to feel closer to the rivers, the greenery, and the relaxed vibes around here.

And that's all I have today! Have you been to Bath or United Kingdom? Let me know in the comments below!
