South Korea - We Go Gangnam Style

Hello there!

Having completed my earlier travel posts on several interesting countries and regions, including Japan, Maldives, Indonesia, US, Europe, New Zealand, Australia and United Kingdom, I was browsing through my photos to see where I should write about next.

And interestingly, I realised I haven't posted about Seoul, South Korea, despite having visited a few times. My first trip was in 1998 when my parents brought me overseas. Thereafter, I visited Seoul with friends back in 2019, and then last year 2025, and then last month in 2026, where I fell and injured myself. You can read more about it here.

Like the saying goes, you get back where you fall. So it's probably about time I write about my Seoul adventures. Starting from the 2019 one. Hehe.

Here's my earlier post(s) from this series!
South Korea - Discovering Seoul From Above
South Korea - Adventures At Lotte World
South Korea - Into The Underwater World At Lotte Aquarium

Fast forward to 2025, this was the third trip to Seoul, and I had a chance to venture into the Gangnam district. Many of us know the place Gangnam because of the popular hit Gangnam Style a few years back. And it was such a global hit to the extent that they had this huge hand sign structure in this area! So many people were queueing to take a photo with this icon hand sign!

Of course, within the Gangnam district, there was another popular tourist attraction for visitors to check in. That's the Starfield Library! Just look at this photo - definitely well placed for the social media and the Instagram lovers. The neat rows and columns and shelves made such a good photo! I suppose the books that were there were just for decoration purpose, because how was one going to retrieve them? Haha. Other than tourists, there were lots of locals too, as you can tell from the photos, after all it was a library too. For me, I didn't read any books but just admired the architecture. Totally amazing.

Further down from the crowded mall, there was a place of worship that I spotted on the Google Maps and I thought it would be interesting to take a look.

And we arrived at the entrance!

After a couple more steps we finally the reached this amazing sight of the Buddha in the temple. Against the backdrop of trees, the vibes were really special and the surroundings just felt so peaceful and tranquil. There's something unique about these places of worship that made one take a deep breath, pause amidst the rush in our lives, and just appreciate and be in the present moment.

And that's it for my trip to Gangnam! A little of bit culture, a little of history, and of course there's more! There were a lot of interesting cafes in the area but I figured out that's more of a food adventure than a Worldmappin post. Hehe!

And that's all I have today! Have you been to Seoul or South Korea? Let me know in the comments below!

Finally, thanks for reading my post in the community under World Map Pin!
