Italy - A Glow Within Milan: The Colourful Windows Of Duomo

Hello there!

Having completed my earlier travel posts on several interesting countries, such as Japan, Maldives, Indonesia and US, it's probably time to share about my recent Europe trip! If you are keen to find out which countries and cities I visited, you can read the quick summary here.

There is actually a back story behind this trip. My friend and I planned this trip a few years back and it was supposed to take place in Apr 2020, but as most of you would know, Covid 19 pandemic came and we had to cancel the trip due to all the travel restrictions and health advisories. So we planned for this trip in 2025 and it finally materialised!

This is the 20th and also the final post for my 3 week Europe trip! For the final post, I will be bringing you through the interiors of Duomo di Milano, as well as the famous colourful windows within!

In the earlier posts, we went up and saw beautiful architecture of the cathedral and amazing skylines of the city, and when we descended all the way down via foot, what greeted us was this amazing hall. It looked so majestic and sacred at the same time. The hugeness of the hall really made all of us looked very small. And after a quick break to rest our legs from the descent, we were on our way to explore and snap photos!

Here are some photos of the hall. Many benches for visitors to soak in the surroundings of the cathedral, or even to meditate or pray. There were no ceremonies going on while I was there, so I just sat for a while to admire the surroundings and snapped some photos.

Here is my favourite part of the interior hall within Duomo di Milano! The colourful windows! And there were so many of them! The drawings on them were probably too small to see from where we were, but as the light shone through from outside, the windows looked amazing!

There were many different variations as well, some big and some small. Was able to zoom in on a smaller one over here.

Wow so many colourful windows! Against the background of the wall, I thought the contrast really made these windows look awesome!

Larger ones over here!

And even larger ones! I wonder how did they manage to achieve this!

With that, we have come to the end of the full tour of Duomo di Milano and it was definitely worth the ticket price, to be able to see and experience so many things. And for me, it was more meaningful because it was one of the few places of worship where I managed to get tickets (we didn't manage to book the tickets to see the inside of Notre Dame in Paris) and it was really nice to see what a huge and famous cathedral looked like from the inside.

And this also marked the end of my sharing for this 3 week Europe trip! Time flies indeed! It's also amazing how I managed to do up 20 posts (including this one) from this trip, sharing all the different sights and experiences from so many different countries and cities. You can find the list at the start of this post! Since this is also the final post for this series, I would also like to thank everyone who has been following this journey of mine, be it voting, commenting, reposting, sharing, or just silently reading. Really appreciate all the engagement and of course, special thanks to World Map Pin for providing this space and the curators who have picked many of my posts for the Travel Digest! It's been fun and I am sure I will be back with some new adventures soon!

What wonderful architecture this church has, but its stained glass windows are a magnificent expression of art, as well as displaying images of saints and other representatives of Catholicism.
