France - Climbing Castle Hill: Breathtaking Views and Nice's Coastal Beauty

Hello there!

Having completed my earlier travel posts on several interesting countries, such as Japan, Maldives, Indonesia and US, it's probably time to share about my recent Europe trip! If you are keen to find out which countries and cities I visited, you can read the quick summary here.

There is actually a back story behind this trip. My friend and I planned this trip a few years back and it was supposed to take place in Apr 2020, but as most of you would know, Covid 19 pandemic came and we had to cancel the trip due to all the travel restrictions and health advisories. So we planned for this trip in 2025 and it finally materialised!

We continued our sightseeing along the streets of Nice, when we chanced upon people walking uphill towards a hill. We did a Google search and realised it was Castle Hill, or better known as Colline du Château. The photos online looked amazing so we thought we should head up too!

The inclined path up wasn't easy to head up but we were determined of course! For the good views!

Finally we entered the gate and made our way up the stairs!

After much climbing and hiking, we were finally given a sneak peek of the view here. We were not very high yet, but behind the trees, the view was definitely something to look forward to!

Up and up we went! This looked pretty good, and we took a break while we snapped some photos at this level.

There was a waterfall over here and it elevated the ambience of Castle Hill because the combination is so perfect - waterfall, blue skies, coastal views!

Then we spotted people at a higher ground! There was more to climb actually! Since we already made it so far, and even though our legs were tired, we knew we had to make our way up!

And we made it! Now we just got to find the exact spot above the waterfall!

I was distracted by this breathtaking view! Look at the waters! So peaceful and tranquil!

We found the spot! Yay! Looking down, it was where we actually stood just now!

And of course, the photos at the highest point would be the best! So here's some of those that I have taken! :)

I really liked the combination of the blue and calming waters, and beatiful coastline, together with the design of their buildings. It all blended so well together and to me, it was one of the best sights in the world when it comes to coastal city views.

I spent some time at the top, just soaking in the atmosphere, enjoying the great views, of course, doing the touristy stuff like taking countless photos! Even though it was definitely tiring to hike up a hill a few hours after a flight, the view was totally totally worth it! Really great I made this trip! And that's the end of the visit to Nice, where will I head to next? :P
