Hello there!
Having completed my earlier travel posts on several interesting countries and regions, including Japan, Maldives, Indonesia, US, Europe and the latest one being New Zealand, it's time to fly over to Australia!
Australia is a country that I have been to twice in my life. The first time was to Sydney in 2009, and the second time was to Melbourne in 2011. And I realised that's 14 years since I was last there! Anyway, time to relive those moments as I share the sights and sounds of my experience!
Here are the posts so far:
After spending several days in the city of Melbourne, my friends and I rented a car and we drove out to explore further. There were many activities to do in the surrounding area of Melbourne, and the first activity on our list was to head to a berries and cherries farm.
For me, I was quite excited because it would be an unique experience for me given that we didn't have berries and cherries farms of such scale over in my city. Moreover, the thought of picking and eating at the same time felt pretty fun as well! This was the view of the farm when we finally arrived after about one to two hours drive.
The price list - but this was in 2011 - so it should be higher now.
They also had fresh berries that were readily available for people who were too lazy to pick. Hehe.
Just look at how big the farm was! Amidst the excitement, I realised it would actually be quite challenging as well. First, the farm was really huge and different berries were at different sections, it's really a long walk from section to section. Two, the sun. Physical activity under this kind of weather was definitely going to be tiring. And finally, carrying the berries and cherries. Once they were picked, they stayed in the basket and we had to carry them all the way throughout because we were too far from the entrance to return.
This should be raspberries!
And I suppose.. Cherries? It was also interesting to see these plants in real life, because all these years, all my knowledge was just based on what was in the science textbooks.
Like I said, we walked and walked and walked under the hot sun. Almost like a farmer. Hehe!
Berries that were not ripe yet! This was interesting to me as well because in the supermarkets, we only see those that were ripe and ready for sale. But in farms, we got to see the fruits in various stages of development.
The strawberries!
More raspberries!
These are blackberries? Not your mobile phone though. Just kidding. Haha.
Loganberries anyone?
After a long day out at the sun, here's what we have picked!
What a great morning workout! We ate till our stomachs were full and at the same time, sweated it out under the sun. It was definitely a fun experience but tiring as well. Definitely exceeded my Vitamin C intake for that day! Hehe!
And that's all I have today! Have you been to berries and cherries farms or Australia? Let me know in the comments below!
Finally, thanks for reading my post in the community under World Map Pin!
PYO, aka pick your own, is such a fun activity! It's awesome that you got to go to one. I really wish more places would do it throughout the world.
Yeah definitely a fun activity! And a memorable one too! Thanks for dropping by!
It's that weird moment when you're in a cherry orchard and a cherry is eaten heartily in front of you. Australia Sydney is a beautiful place that everyone would love to visit. Hope you had a great time.
