Harvest, Taste, and Rest: A Day at Paglinawan Organic Eco-Farm in Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur, PH

Nested in the lush highlands of Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur, Paglinawan Organic Eco-Farm offers a refreshing escape where nature, art, and organic living come together.

Yesterday, when my friend and my partner invited me to come with them for a business meeting with one of the business owners of the municipality of Dumingag, I was a bit hesitant to go with them. For sure, there would be cups of coffee on the table and a business agenda. But they wanted me to come with them, so I did.

I was wrong. It was not the usual business meeting. It was something more than those. The owner set the venue on his farm, and it was not just a typical farm; it was a resort farm growing and nurturing organic products. Truly interesting!

At the main entrance, a pathway with lush greens will welcome its guests with warmth and beautiful scenery.

The path led us to a native restaurant made with hardwood, with beautifully crafted and designed tables and chairs. Besides this, the restaurant is by a river where we could hear the splashes of the water.

The restaurant is open, and the cold wind was our natural air conditioner. The wall decorations and landscapes are perfect and aesthetic. There are some pencil sketches on one side, which we learned was an actual artwork of the farm owner.

A lady went to our table and served us hot chocolate, or in the Philippines, it is widely known as sikwate. Sikwate is a pure hot chocolate drink made with 100% roasted cocoa seeds. It was deliciously hot.

When the farm owner arrived, he went to our table and asked one of his staff to serve us breakfast. And that breakfast was awesome. The kitchen served us vegetable menus, where the vegetables they used were freshly picked from their organic garden, including the organic native chicken, sunny side up, and steamed tilapia from their farm fish pond. That was the healthiest breakfast I've ever had, and our rice was black rice and corn grits.

Then, after the meeting, the owner invited us to have a stroll in his organic garden and organic livestock. He had organically grown vegetable varieties on his farm, beautifully arranged on farm beds.

He also has organically grown hogs, native chicken, ducks, and turkey. He also has a few rabbits. His animal wastes are processed and made into organic fertilizers.

The farm resort has beautifully designed rooms that accommodate visitors at affordable rates. The eco-farm is best for seminars and training, and even family gatherings. Kids will surely enjoy the organic garden where they can harvest vegetables and let the kitchen cook for them. They also enjoy fishing in the tilapia fish pond, where their catch can be cooked into fried or grilled tilapia.

Paglinawan Organic Eco-Farm is not just a farm. It is a blend of nature, sustainability, art, and hospitality.

For those who want to visit this eco-farm, an entrance fee of 25 pesos is worth it. One more thing, the farm has a small factory of organic turmeric powders and cocoa powders where you can buy them at factory price.
