Comfort and Charm at Hamdan Plaza Hotel in Salalah, Oman

Hamdan Plaza Hotel was our home for four awesome days in Salalah Oman. As we came close to the hotel, I was directly struck by its impressive size. A massive structure that stood tall amid the city streets.

The moment we entered the warmth of the staff welcomed us right away. My husband handled the check-in at the front desk and we were given a room on the third floor. This time he didn’t choose a sea view. The hotel is located in the city but that didn’t stop our elation.

When we opened the door we were delighted by the ampleness. It has a small living room, a large bedroom and everything was arranged and flawlessly clean. Since we were heading out for our tour, we didn’t explore the hotel right away, but I couldn’t wait to return.

We didn’t loiter at first since our tour was waiting. But later that evening we finally took time to explore. The lobby struck me with its spacious and dainty design. Sofas were placed everywhere, perfect for lounging. A standout feature was a large boat displayed prominently. A magnificent traditional Omani Ghanja dhow, a timeless reminder of the country’s proud maritime history. With its graceful wooden frame and signature pointed bow. It makes the aura blend with culture with sytle, reminding visitors that they are not only in a hotel but also in a place deeply rooted in history and tradition. I also saw a large frame with nautical decor such as wheels, anchors and sailboats. The area was bright, airy and welcoming.

When we went to the hotel’s restaurant the hallway snared our attention with its stylish and fancy design. Its accent illuminated ceiling board with complex geometric style, contemporary sofas, and patterned walls that gave it a stylish, artistic feel. The restaurant was vast, the atmosphere relaxing and the food absolutely satisfying. Out of respect for other guests I didn’t take photos. But the memories are solidly etched in my mind.

My husband suggested a walk to explore more after dinner. We walked to the pool area at the back of the hotel. It was splendid, wide and surrounded by greenery. The pool was truly grand in size, styled ideally to fit both children and adults. What seized our attention the most was the striking lighting which shifted from one color to another, casting a beautiful glow across the water. It created a new mood, from calming to playful, making the pool area feel lively and enchanting. We stumbled upon a tennis court where some teens were playing pickleball.

We walked back toward our room and moved out of the elevator on our floor. We were hailed by a cozy seating area. It has a comfy sofa and a coffee table. The walls excelled with their prominent pattern of dark and light tiles. It adds pitch and character to the area. Casting warmth and freshness to the interior were the potted plants arranged along the sides, bringing a touch of greenery that balanced the modern design with a natural charm. Along the hallways I liked nature inspired paintings and took a few pictures.
Our stay at Hamdan Plaza Hotel was an alluring experience that combined solace, hospitality and a touch of Omani charm. It was truly a place where we could unwind, explore and carry with us wonderful memories of Salalah.
