This weekend, I had the privilege of revisiting Cape San Agustin in Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental, Philippines, this time with my mom, family, and friends. It was my mom’s first time traveling to this iconic destination, and seeing her excitement made every moment unforgettable. The journey, though challenging with its steep climbs and winding roads, was worth every step as it brought us closer to a place that feels like a hidden paradise. The sight of the iconic lighthouses standing tall against the backdrop of the endless sea and sky left us in awe. The ocean breeze carried a sense of freedom, a moment of peace that my mom and I hadn’t felt in a long time.
What truly sets Cape San Agustin apart is its ability to leave you in utter amazement. The place is a living postcard, with every angle offering breathtaking views. Standing at the cape, you’re greeted by a panorama where lush greenery kisses the deep blue sea. It’s the kind of beauty that reminds you of how extraordinary nature is. I couldn’t help but marvel at how clean and well-preserved the area is—proof of the locals’ love and pride for their home.
The people there added so much to the experience. They were welcoming and kind, always eager to assist. Guides enthusiastically shared stories about the history and significance of the cape, making the visit both educational and heartwarming. Some even offered to take pictures for us, ensuring we captured every moment of our adventure.
This trip has reminded me of life’s simple joys: exploring new places, making memories with loved ones, and reconnecting with nature. Cape San Agustin is not just a destination; it’s a sanctuary where history, beauty, and community come together. For anyone seeking a place that inspires awe and gratitude, this is it.
Though our drone malfunctioned towards the end of the trip, it didn’t diminish the happiness we felt. The memories we created were far more valuable than any footage we could have captured. As we made our way back, my mom said, “Daghan pa unta ingon ani.” (I hope there are more trips like this.) It was her way of saying she’s ready for more adventures, and I’m more than ready to give her just that.
Thank you, everyone this is the journey and reminding us of the beauty of family, nature, and shared moments during our travel.
Love lots,
