One thing about living in the middle of no where, even when the main travel is done, there is still more work to do. I love where I live, but its no where near the airport - its time to do this process, in reverse.
Getting around the world is probably the least exciting part of travelling, once you are somewhere else, you can have fun all week walking around, but its in the getting there that the highest stress moments can happen.
Luckily, it was a long, but low stress travel from Guadalajara to Bogotá yesterday.
We took our time in the airport, and I was pleasantly surprised about the duty free - Agave World was empty and we spent half an hour doing solid sociology and selecting just the right souvenirs for all those primos who will be asking the age old question - "What did you bring me?"
We got to our gate just in time for zero wait, after a brief stop over at the Shake Shack for a nice reminder of.... Michigan? Regardless it was delicious and a short tram ride later we were boarding the plane.
Outside in, for 5 hour flight back "home".
Home is where the heart is, they say, and I find it ironic that while Bogotá is no where near my home, how nice it feels to at least be "in country".
I had texted my "primo" from the airport, and we had a hotel reservation ready at my go-to place. Its quite close to this pin, around "el Exito" in my favorite neighborhood of Chapinero, where a panaderia favorite of ours also resides.
We couldn't resist, before we head to the bus terminal.
So while we still have a whole day of travel ahead, we are "here", happy, and debriefing from an extremely productive trip to Guadalajara.
I'd be happy to go back. But not today.
I'm very happy to hear that the trip back was a mellow one, and that you guys arrived safely in Colombia, my friend. I've done several trips like that previously, so I know the routine and the feeling of returning 'home', and still having a ways to go to actually get there. May the last leg of your journey go smoothly, brother! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
I'm glad to hear that your trip to Guadalajara was productive and that you're feeling happy about it.
Safe travels for the rest of your journey.
