Today, I'll be writing about the importance of lightning conductors and how they can help members of vessel crew. The aim of this post is to bring to fore the importance of the subject matter and how it's knowledge can avert future dangers on the vessel.

What's Lightning Conductors?

Lightning conductor is a metal rod placed on a building and connected with the ground below to protect the building from being damaged by lightning. Its purpose is to offer a low resistance path to lightening and allow it to pass to the ground without impacting the building.Source

A lightning conductor by its design is use to provide a safe path for crew members on board a vessel and to protect building from been damage, dramatic display of electrical discharge in nature are seen in lightening flashes which are common during the rainy season when electrical charges formed in thunderclouds build up the attraction between unlike charges within a cloud or between different clouds increases steadily until opposite charges suddenly jump from cloud to cloud or from cloud to earth in the form of huge sparks of electrical discharge this sparks is seen as a very bright flash which is called lightning.

A great amount of heat is released in this process and a building a tree🌲 or any other tall structure 🏯🏬🏯 can be set on fire if a safe path is not provided for this discharge in summary technology has made life easier, safe for us.
