Good morning all, doing my 5 minutes free writing with prompt - Underline it! Hope you enjoy the story.
While we were schooling, often we would be required by our teachers to underline our answers.
And we would obediently do it, many time probably not understanding why, some may even find it troublesome as you have to draw a line after answering, which to many if not all is already tiring enough.
But as the threatened penalty of not following instruction of underlining our answer is marks deduction or in worse cases, no marks awarded.
The reason we were told to underline it was to allow the teacher to check understanding as underlining answer emphasis to the teacher what is the answer we think it is to their questions. As some students will try to guess the answer by writing a very long response in an attempt to score point should he hit some points needed in the answer.
Another occasion where we need to underline it is our surname to indicate our surname in travel declaration form, and these probably would also help others address us by our surname. As each individual would probably not write their name by first name last name, as asian countries, many uses last name the first name or given name.
So the next time, we need to underline certain information, let's make sure we underline it!
