Jaywalking has become a problem in many countries and certainly a risk factor when people jaywalks and disregard traffic rules that has been define and set precisely to protect them. In fact, quite a number of traffic accidents can be attributed to jaywalking.

The crosswalk is designed to assist the pedestrians, the most vulnerable on the road to cross the road in the absence of an overhead bridge, or underground tunnels or traffic light regulating. It's is designed n zebra strips to be attention grabbing and also easy identification on a busy traffic. Pedestrians are given priority over moving traffic to cross the road safely and slowly.

But despite these rules, we as pedestrians should still practice additional precaution when using the crosswalk. We should ensure vehicles on both sides of the road had come to a complete stop before we cross, we cannot be sure the driver behind the wheel is completely sober and alert.

At times in life,we are also at different crosswalk in life where we had to take deep thoughts and arrive at a decision of whether to cross the crosswalk and take a whole new direction. This we can also apply the same rules, make sure all factors are considered and is the direction ahead, one that we want, before we decide to cross.
