Over the past decade, with the introduction of smart phones, especially with the touch screen features. How people uses mobile phones has evolved rapidly.

When mobile phone was first introduced, making calls was still the top usage of phone, and SMS (Short Message Service) are limited in number in our subscription plan. Thus, older generation prefers to type long message maximizing all the characters in each messages. When we say "Text Me" ! It would usually be long message.

But today, with smart phones and apps like Whatsapp, Signal etc, we are now able to send text messages, attach photos, includes video clips as messages to be send over to the other party. And all of these forms part of our data usage in our subscription plan. Thus, now when we say "Text Me" ! We might no longer be waiting for just a text, it could be any of the above or even a contact card. That's how far we have progressed.

We can now gauge approximately the age group of our text sender from the way he text, if he loves a full long detail text would suggest he's more senior in age from the period of expensive SMS era. If he loves short but multiple messages, likely he started from the WhatsApp gen.

So which generation are you when you get "Text Me" !
