When we hired for a job or assignment, we are expected to produce results in output from our tasks.

But I believe everyone would have at least encountered once in our career, a producer of nothing in particular. I think such producer could be further break down into 2 types.

Type 1: The genuine unknown
These folks are passionate and really try their best to produce results the leaders want, but they may not really know how to get the job done, thus as a result, they spent most of the time correcting errors this by the end of assignment period, they would need an extension.

Type 2: The "Smart" Producing
This group of people knows what needs to be done, but they are not keen and don't want to contribute, but instead of outright rejection, they would take on an assignment. But along the way, you receive feedbacks on whole lost of problem pending your decision for solution. Therefore like the type 1, they are producing nothing in particular needed for the end result.

As leader, it is a crucial skill to know how the job is done, this will enable us to identify which type of producer of nothing in particular are your reports trying to be.
