Guessing, something I believe everyone would have done at least once in or lifetime. Some, due to job nature would have to do it more often. They could be sales person thus they have to guess what their prospect like or dislike.

Students, the group who have to guess a lot, at least I did a lot of guessing when I am studying. The most of it done while preparing and answering papers.

Students would likely guess what kind of question might be set for examination. So how to ensure we make guess that are not bad, still some work is inevitable, we would have to take note of what the lecturer has been repeating, means he / she feels this part is important and will definitely test the students. Doing past year papers by the same examiner is also helpful and from the question set before, we can guess what's not been set could be something to catch you off guard.

Sales person take a guess from the customer's current fashion sense, clothes he's wearing, brands he/she is carrying now.

Therefore, from all these clues, we can make smarter guess and not random guessing purely on luck. Then you can get not too bad a guess often.
