"Please send Jerome into congress tomorrow with your vote, else the son of the state would not be in congress to work for you" the election message blasting loudly over the loud hailer as election candidates from both major party are working hard to rally for vote on the eve of voting day.

To be the democratically elected representative of the state is a requirement by the constitution to be a member of Congress and to fight for law and benefits for the state they are elected to represent.

To get voters to vote for you, other than your party machinery, what you stand for need to be align with voters and in recent years, your attendance in congress when they sit are important for those seeking re-election

If you are constantly absent and not in Congress to vote or debate, is just like students skipping lessons when they are paying to attend lesson but constantly not doing so. Your voters vote you into congress to be present, debate on bills that concerns them. And if one is constantly not in Congress to do their job and exercise their rights is a letdown to his or her voters
