Good morning all, doing my 5 minutes free writing with prompt - My First Bicycle. Hope you enjoy the story.
My first bicycle in the 90s was a 2 wheels BMX, a gift from my parents fory birthday. Growing up in a generation where entertainment was simple, games like block catching, playing badminton with classmates and the neighborhood kids were the ways we spent weekends and holiday. Therefore, to allow us to have more options of fun and also exercises, our parents would save up and get us a bicycle.
A bicycle also needs their time and patience to guide us as we learn to handle the bicycle safely and correctly. Usually we would be in an open space with our parents, they would steady our bicycle at the back while we learnt to balance and to pedal off. Once we are able to pedal off, they would silently release their grip on the bicycle as we pedal and turn away on our own. We learnt that we were able to control the vehicle on our own when we see them standing there and be happy for us.
It's very much the same in our growing up journey. Our parents would impart important skills and lesson to us, holding us as we grew up, eventually slowly releasing their hand and grip on us, allowing us to grow and venture out on our own.
Share your bicycle memories with me.
