Good morning all, doing my 5 minutes free writing with prompt - I'm on it. Hope you enjoy the story.
In today's context, how often have we replied "I'm on it" I believe many of us would have said that when our supervisor asked us for an update on some critical tasks assigned to us.
I believe firmly when we say we are on it as an answer, this statement wll get feedback to his / her supervisor when they are quizzed like we are. Especially so when we are a KPI driven society, everything must be converted into a "measurable metric"
Since young, we were taught that to measure something, it will have something to do on the number system. It has to be X number of manhour saved or number of apart changed avoided. And all in all, it has to translated to X amount of money (or cost) as bosses like to put it saved. All these metrics are in a way what gave us a job and kept us busy.
But again, let's be honest, how many of us also used I'm on it as a cover to slack on work as probably we have finished what's assigned but submitting early means we get the next assignment. So we will only submitted on deadline. I am guilty of both
