5 Minutes Free Writing - I am not going to Volunteer
Good morning all, doing my 5 minutes free writing with prompt - I am not going to Volunteer. Hope you enjoy the story.
" Team, please submit your overtime claims for my review by today, thanks" reads the broadcast message from the leader.
As Leonard is working on a key project and has been working late for the past 2 weeks. Thus he happily submitted all the hours for review. This is when Jeremy his supervisor and a more senior member on the team dropped by his cubicle, and advice him on the team's unspoken rule of having a cap on the number of hours per member.
As Leonard is a new transferee to the team, his previous team does not have such restriction. He was dumbfounded. "I am not going to volunteer" Leonard tells Jeremy. Free OT is equal to volunteer was his reasoning.
At least for this month, he's prepared to reason with the boss on the ground of not knowing the rules, and moving forward, he will keep a watch on his timing. So as not to end up volunteering for the company where he is selling his time for pay.
He's very clear if he wants to volunteer, he will do it at a non profit organization.
