The theme for this years cyber security forum is "Phishing" announced the organizers. The slogan on the event aners read "Don't click on the link*
I think this should resonate very well with many of us, web consumers. A decade or more ago, whenever we have doubt or query, we read up books in the library, or we seek information from our circle of contact. Today, we reach out for our phone in the pocket, opens up our browser and key in whatever question we have. The search engine chunks out millions of link in matters of milliseconds.
Now, while you are reading this, would actually reads the link name and try to reason in your brain that it sounds legit and should be safe before clicking on the link and be directed to another web traffic.
A lot of cyber attack today actually originate simply by a click of a malicious link. Which by various methods either by compromising the browser or by very quickly install a small but malicious executable onto one computer, then onto the network. Well, to go in depth, it would be a few modules of material of various content.
But we must recognize the risk and danger of all the links we are clicking on daily. If unsure, don't click the link, and if your anti virus software or firewall prompt warning. It's always better to err on the side of caution.
