Are you a person who uses colourful language? Thos reminds me of an incident that took place when I am serving my mandatory military service a decade plus ago.
I am unsure about other military service around the world, but at least in my country. Veteran are very used to using colourful, it's like thei colmmas and full stops.
So, on the first day we were enlisted, after going through the necessary admin. The company sergeant major greeted the company. He asked for those who are not tolerant to colourful language to raise their hand, stating if no violent objetion then he will be using colourful language and we are expected to be able to handle it. Thinking back, I think that was quite fair.
But after a week, one afternoon, the whole company was asked to fall in along company line and under the hot sun, we were being punished for a good hour, as there was a fellow enlistee who went to our orientation officer to report our company sergeant major for excessive usage of colourful language.
For this, it went on record in file and it might affect his career progression. Now I think it's not being fair to him as he did ask for our tolerance and now he is being investigated.
