reads the scrolling headline on the homepage of the company's intranet.
This update came right after the executive town hall meeting yesterday that sets the tone for the goals, indexes and overall direction the company is heading in the new fiscal year.
It is announced that the company is setting a new Key Performance Indicator (KPI) that measures the adoption rate of all the AI tools like ChatGPT, Notebook LM that the company has invested in for the employees to use, aiming to free them of repeatative tasks and to reinvent some creative solution with the time free up.
It came as no surprise to many employees as the Chief Executive has been hinting in all his communication to the company that all should leverage on the power of AI now that we are in the era.
But the true question remains : How should the company ensure employees' job security? If one tells you to fully explore your new hired assistant and delegate jobs to him or her in such a way that you will eventually be replaced by them as they are faster, better, no complaints and no emotion, and you are not retiring.
Would you be that gusto?
I tend to frame this in terms we have seen before.
New tech is known to displace some workers and alter the focus of others.
