When news of his decision spread, his friends and Lucy’s family rushed to intervene. They urged him to reconsider, to be patient, to hold on to hope that Lucy would change. But he was done waiting. Her family began to criticize his choice, but he stated clearly to them with unshaken resolve-
"I don’t want criticism," he said, his voice filled with quiet rage. "I’ve made my decision. And not only is it fair, it’s final."
