Pront: No acepto críticas.

Cuando yo estudiaba en la universidad, había varios profesores que se esforzaban en inculcarnos dos temas que serían fundamentales en mi carrera como periodista, que eran la ética y la objetividad.

Con respecto a la ética, nunca tuve problemas, al contrario, siempre la impulsaba, y siempre hacía un esfuerzo con los compañeros, para explicar la diferencia entre la ética y la moral, y los posibles conflictos que estás nos traerían si se enfrentaban en algunas ocasiones en nuestras carreras.

En cuanto a la objetividad, siempre he sostenido que la misma no existe como tal, y siempre he dicho y sostengo, que un hecho fáctico, puede ser contado o narrado de diferentes maneras, y bajo diferentes visiones, y esas visiones o posiciones se basan en la cultura, la moral, la ética y la ideología, de la persona que narra la historia.

Por eso, muchas veces, vemos una noticia contada de diferentes formas, y con diferentes matices, y es la misma historia, con el mismo final, pero vista desde visiones y posiciones distintas. Por tal motivo, siempre he cuestionado la objetividad como un hecho fáctico, dado que un buen escritor, puede narrar la historia, aun citando las mismas fuentes de diferentes maneras.

Y por supuesto, al tener esta visión, soy muy crítico de las noticias, y siempre busco las diferentes fuentes, en los diferentes medios, para poder darme un acercamiento a la realidad de los hechos, al conocer las diferentes visiones, expuestas en ellos.

Eso me ayudó mucho en mi carrera, en mi proceso como analista y como periodista de investigación. Sin embargo, en los últimos años que ejercí mi carrera, tuve muchos problemas, ya que estaba trabajando para el Estado, y hubo un momento en que llegaron los benditos asesores cubanos.

Y recuerdo, que en el ministerio, llegó uno de estos benditos seres, a decir, que no podíamos hacer artículos con tonos críticos, sobre la gestión del gobierno. En la reunión, se comentó que siempre se habían realizado críticas constructivas a la gestión y que esas críticas, habían ayudado a mejorar ciertas situaciones.

En la reunión, hubo una molestia muy grande, ya que el cubano levantó la voz, y dijo: “No acepto críticas en este medio a la gestión”. Y recuerdo muy bien, que la gente empezó a reclamar la actitud del asesor.

Y cuando el ministro, preguntó nuestra opinión, recuerdo muy bien, que yo dije: “No podemos aceptar, a nivel laboral, ni personal, ni político, la visión sesgada, del estalinismo caribeño, del asesor”. Y todos los presentes estuvieron de acuerdo con esa postura y logramos eliminar esa visión de nuestra área de trabajo.

Sin embargo, después, con los cambios, los ascensos y la profundización de los problemas políticos del país, tuvimos que enfrentar esa posición en casi todos los puestos y responsabilidades que tuvimos. Ya que en el fondo, no hay nada que temas el estalinismo y sus operadores políticos, que una crítica constructiva, bien argumentada, que le mueva el piso a sus posiciones.

Pront: I don’t want criticism.

When I was studying at the university, there were several professors who tried to instill in us two topics that would be fundamental in my career as a journalist, which were ethics and objectivity.

With regard to ethics, I never had problems, on the contrary, I always pushed it, and always made an effort with colleagues, to explain the difference between ethics and morality, and the possible conflicts that you would bring us if they clashed on some occasions in our careers.

As for objectivity, I have always maintained that it does not exist as such, and I have always said and maintain that a factual fact can be told or narrated in different ways, and under different visions, and those visions or positions are based on the culture, morals, ethics and ideology of the person who tells the story.

That is why, many times, we see a news story told in different ways, and with different nuances, and it is the same story, with the same ending, but seen from different visions and positions. For this reason, I have always questioned objectivity as a factual fact, since a good writer can tell the story, even quoting the same sources in different ways.

And of course, having this vision, I am very critical of the news, and I always look for the different sources, in the different media, to be able to give me an approach to the reality of the facts, by knowing the different visions, exposed in them.

That helped me a lot in my career, in my process as an analyst and as an investigative journalist. However, in the last years that I exercised my career, I had many problems, since I was working for the State, and there was a moment when the blessed Cuban advisers arrived.

And I remember, that in the ministry, one of these blessed beings arrived, to say, that we could not make articles with critical tones, about the management of the government. At the meeting, it was commented that constructive criticism had always been made to the management and that these criticisms had helped to improve certain situations.

At the meeting, there was a very big annoyance, since the Cuban raised his voice, and said“ ”I do not accept criticism in this medium to the management." And I remember very well, that people began to claim the attitude of the adviser.

And when the minister asked our opinion, I remember very well, that I said“ "We cannot accept, at the work, personal, or political level, the biased vision of Caribbean Stalinism, of the advisor.” And everyone present agreed with that position and we managed to eliminate that vision from our work area.

However, later, with the changes, promotions and deepening of the country's political problems, we had to face that position in almost every position and responsibility we had. Because basically, there is nothing that Stalinism and its political operators fear, other than a constructive, well-argued criticism that moves the floor to their positions.
