Pront: Dale una pulgada.

Una de las cosas más interesantes que he hecho en mi vida, es trabajar en el área y en los procesos de remodelaciones. Eso lo hice cuando era muy joven para pagar la universidad, y fue gracias al consejo de un gran amigo, que me inculcó desde muy joven, que sin importar que me graduara en la universidad, debía tener y dominar un oficio.

Y siguiendo su consejo, lo hice, y aunque en un principio, el aprender un oficio, fue una especie de juego, para complacer a un amigo, poco a poco y más hoy en día, con la crisis económica y política del país, el haber aprendido un oficio, es algo que me ha ayudado mucho a salir adelante económicamente, más que mi carrera universitaria.

Como mencioné anteriormente, el realizar los procesos de remodelación, es algo muy agradable, ya que en el momento que uno empieza un trabajo, normalmente lo hace en espacios deteriorados o abandonados, sin embargo, cuando uno termina el proceso de remodelación, deja el área en un estado óptimo a nivel funcional y estético, lo que le a ayuda a uno a sentirse muy bien, ya que cuando las personas admiran y se alegran con el trabajo, uno por dentro está muy contento, y se dice a uno mismo: “esto lo hice yo”.

Y fue justamente, cuando trabajaba en el área de la remodelación y la construcción, que empecé a encontrarme con la medida estadounidense de las pulgadas, y en un principio, me volví un ocho, ya que hasta ese entonces, todo lo majaba en centímetros y metros. Así que tuve que adaptarme.

Recuerdo que un día, estaba ayudando a un amigo, a realizar la instalación de un yacusi, en un penthouse en el este de Caracas. Y cuando íbamos a iniciar la instalación, a la dueña del apartamento, se le ocurrió hacer también una fuente panorámica en una de las paredes de la terraza y una suerte de piscina pequeña para los niños.

Y cuando mi amigo, que era el plomero, hizo los cálculos, decidió cambiar la tubería, y hacerla más grande, y me dijo: “Vamos a darle una pulgada más”. Y después, de que pusimos la tubería con la medida que él pidió.

Recuerdo que había unos lugares, donde se necesitaba más presión de agua, y él me decía: "aquí hacemos una reducción y aumenta la presión".

Y esa fue, una de las veces donde más trabajé con la medida de las pulgadas. Después de eso, casi siempre que trabajo o tengo contacto con la medida de la pulgada, es para trabajos de plomería o para el manejo de llaves y herramientas.

One of the most interesting things I have done in my life is to work in the area and in the remodeling processes. I did that when I was too young to pay for college, and it was thanks to the advice of a great friend, who instilled in me from a very young age, that no matter if I graduated from college, I should have and master a trade.

And following his advice, I did it, and although at first, learning a trade was a kind of game, to please a friend, little by little and more nowadays, with the economic and political crisis of the country, having learned a trade, is something that has helped me a lot to get ahead economically, more than my university career.

As I mentioned earlier, carrying out the remodeling processes is something very pleasant, because when one starts a job, he usually does it in deteriorated or abandoned spaces, however, when one finishes the remodeling process, he leaves the area in an optimal state at a functional and aesthetic level, which helps one to feel very good, because when people admire and are happy with the work, one is very happy inside, and one says to oneself: “I did this”.

And it was precisely, when I was working in the area of remodeling and construction, that I began to encounter the American measurement of inches, and at first, I became an eight, since until then, everything was majaba in centimeters and meters. So I had to adapt.

I remember that one day, I was helping a friend, to make the installation of a yacusi, in a penthouse in the east of Caracas. And when we were going to start the installation, the owner of the apartment, it occurred to her to also make a panoramic fountain on one of the walls of the terrace and a kind of small pool for the children.

And when my friend, who was the plumber, did the calculations, he decided to change the pipe, and make it bigger, and he said, "Let's give it one more inch.” And after, that we put the pipe with the measure that he requested.

I remember that there were some places where more water pressure was needed, and he would tell me: "Here we make a reduction and the pressure increases."

And that was, one of the times where I worked the most with the measurement of the inches. After that, almost every time I work or have contact with the measurement of the inch, it is for plumbing work or for the handling of keys and tools.
