Child, this is not a debate, you would read the course I want you to read and you would go to the school I want you to go or else count me out of anything called "sponsoring your education". Those were the harsh words of Mr Charles Maduka to his daughter Nnena, Nnena has always wanted to be a heavy machinery operator, and that is because she grew up seeing her father doing so excellently well at it and picked a liking to it, but account to here father "it's a job for men and not fit for women".

Nnena my dear, her mum called out to her drawing her to herself, after her dad had stormed out of the sitting room. You know what your father wants for you is the best and you and I know that operating heavy equipment machinery is no child's play, why don't you go read courses like medicine, nursing, dentistry and so on. Mum you have come again Nnena said, always taking sides with your husband, have you ever thought of how I feel in this whole issue, it's my life and whatever I do with it is my cross to bear, MINE but you and daddy keeps wanting to influence my life for you not for myself, when will you, my parents ever support me?.

Mummy, please help me beg your husband my father to allow me do what I want in this life she said with teary eyes, it's my life even though I would appreciate your advice and contributions in it. Her mum kept on looking at her in silence, I guess this is it? You won't help me talk to your husband, right? No problem I'll handle things my way.

Where is this girl! Where is this girl! Where is your daughter? I'm asking you mama Nnena where is your daughter? Why are you shouting like this? She's in the kitchen. I thought I already made my point clear my Charles barked, and you still went behind my back to do what's in your mind, fine, if that's what you want no problem just know I'm washing my hands off anything that concerns you and your education.

Ah honey, that is too harsh she is just a child, let's allow her do what she wants to do Mrs Maduka pleaded. This is not a debate and it is not negotiable, her husband fired back.
Nnena who was eavesdropping sighed.
