I think this month is my 7th year as a Rotaractor.
And never for once have I regretted joining The Rotary/Rotaract family.
In leadership, I cam boldly tell you anywhere that Rotary teaches leadership, not just leadership, but practical leadership. You are assigned to an office, you are trained for that office and you lead. It's even easy these days, you can easily log into your Rotary International (RI) portal , go to the learning center and learn any course of your choice for free.
As I like telling people the very day you join the Rotaract family you are a leader, because you will handle a task in one way or the other and one day leading your club , zone district or Rotary International will Rotate to you.
I joined Rotary in 2019 and in less than 6 months I was appointed the Vice President and in 2020 I was elected as the President to lead the club.
Did I prepare for that position, No. I remember thanking my club for the trust they had on me to elect to handle the mantle , and I still remember rejecting the offer, I stated my reasons. But 10 ways to destroy your club ( Number 4 ) was quoted for me. I had no choice, I accepted.
So did I lead, yes. Because Rotary fortified me for the position that I was elected to hand. So Rotary gives you a platform to lead and also trains and prepare you for the leadership position.
Points / Facts to note about Rotary leadership.
If you can handle a leadership position in Rotary , then you can lead in anywhere.
Rotary give you a core / practical leadership training and also give you a platform to lead.
The process of electing/appointing leaders and even the leadership transition process in Rotary is always very orderly, free , fair, perfect , peaceful and smooth. Which is why Rotary is being recognize as the second most oderlly organization in the world after Roman Catholic.
I think it's only in Rotary that after being the forefront leader, like the President, District Rotaract Representative (DRR), District Governor (DG) , Rotary International President ( RI President ) for a year, you will not like to go back for the second term immediately if given the opportunity. You would want to rest first 🤣. Because leadership in Rotary is delivering service not just to members of your organization, but to humanity and you are not paid for that ( it's voluntary ).
*But in all leadership in Rotary prepares you for leadership anywhere.
Join Rotary Rotaract today and be a good leader.
