Hello Hive. 😃 I'm back again with another 100-words microfiction, that is #zapfic100, inspired by the random word prompt "maximum" taken from @felt.buzz's drabble post. If you will like to write microfiction in 100 words, give this challenge a try.
Larry, owner of Rikett Plaza, found a mystery carton placed in front of his store and called the police. He found it strange because the neighbourhood was suburban and quiet.
The patrol police radioed in the location and bomb squad was sent to the scene. Seargent Cassie Durant geared up and rode with her team to the scene.
A crime scene tape was curled around the plaza while few residents stood, watching from a distance.
"Talk to me, Gary," Cassie asked the Bomb Squad leader.
"Its an IED designed to cause the maximum amount of damage but we've deactivated it."

Hello @ladytitan. Wow, that was a close call. It's good the plaza owner was a quick thinker and acted accordingly upon discovering the mysterious package. He probably saved numerous lives with his action.
Thanks for sharing your story.
Take care.

Hi there. Thanks for reading. You are correct. The plaza owner saved lives or else the death toll would have been high.
